Birthday
Saturday morning I wake up early. Bumaba ako at naabutan si Kuya sa living room. Nilingon ko ang isa sa mga kasambahay.
"Brew me a coffee with cream. I want it in a wine glass."
Tumango ang kasambahay at nmsinunid ang aking inutos.
I sat beside Kuya and watch what he was doing. His thesis again.
"When are you going to finish that?"
"Pag na defend na namin."
"Paano kung failed kayo?"
"Uulit ulit."
"That's too complicated," I remark.
"That's life..." Bumuga siya ng hangin at sumandal sa couch.
"No ballet practice?"
Umiling ako.
"Tomorrow pa. Today's my day off."
"Ang payat mo na. Are you doing those diets again?"
He held my arms. Measuring it.
"Yes, Kuya..."
"Damn! Please don't tell me you're starving yourself."
Humalaklak ako.
"Don't worry Kuya, I don't starve myself. I'm being vegetarian."
"I hope after your audition, you start eating heavy meals, again."
"Nope, hindi parin. Makukuha akong Odette Kuya, I'll be doubling my diet. "
He groaned. "Girls..."he murmured.
"I know where complicated!" I said at umirap dinudugtungan ang sasabihin niya sana
Bumalik siya sa ginagawa.
Umahon ako sa pagkakasandal sa couch at kinuha ang cellphone ni Kuya.
Kumunot ang noo ko ng makita ang newsfeed niya. Everyone is greeting Heath a happy birthday. I went to my phone to check the date it was (Aries month).
Binaba ko ang phone ni Kuya at tinext si Heath.

Napatalon ako sa gulat ng biglang nag ring ang aking cellphone. He was calling. I stand up and went to our verenda far away from Kuya.
I answered his call.
"I want to hear it..." He was almost out of breath.
Ngumiti ako. Umopo ako sa verenda.
"Happy birthday..."
Nag init ang aking pisngi. Ngumuso ako.
"Are you having a party today?"
"Yes..." Mapaos niyang aniya. He was panting.
"Saan?"
"My mom's vacation house." I heard a loud thug. Binalewala ko iton
"Am I invited?"
"Of course..."
Kumunot ang noo ko. His tone is hoarse like he was still in bed.
"Are you still in bed?"
"Nope...exercising. " He said almost out of breath.
"Oh! Really? What are you wearing? Take a picture I want to see it."
