40. Anidita's 'ANIRBON'

Anirudh had left the place when he couldn't take Toshan's loving gestures towards Binitha and as soon as he left Bondita fell on Toshi's feet crying miserably.

16th May 1927

Location: Anirudh's Room Srinagar

Night 11:20 PM

Twisting and turning his body on the cold bed of Salieem's guest room; his tears were wetting the pillow his head rested upon. How he felt boils formed in his throat whenever images of Bondita and Toshan smiling at each other surfaced in his memory.

He was recalling every single moment since they met -- how Binitha greeted Toshan in their first meet with Adab!. He respected her from that second Anirudh got the hint of that. How his skin glowed pink when their hands brushed on horse carriage when she was inside. He named her beautiful name, selected a beautiful dress for her, danced with her with all due respect and a few moments ago tucked that stray hairlock behind her ear delicately with his fingers in the garden.

Those little moments engaging them two were so harassing for him. He himself gave all the rights to Toshan to be with her, to take care of her yet when he imagined them together in future he could not breath the relish he aimed to get after finding her a life partner like Toshan.

But, now it didn't make any sense, he had lost all his rights on Binitha when he asked Toshan to take her responsibility if she agrees. There were no possibilities that Toshan will say no he knows he loves her, and Binitha too considers him a good human being. Sixteen years Bini and 24 years Toshi a suitable aged girl and boy will be starting a new life soon may be by tomorrow, if Saleem and Fatima Bi agrees for the same. There will be no need of him in Binitha's life then and he is not that brave that he could see anyone else holding her hands with all the rights of her husband so it will be better for him to leave early morning from there and catch the first train to Calcutta.

"Does in the past, Bondita too never wished to meet him by the same reason that she couldn't accept him with Saudamini...?", a thought out of the blue threatened his fragile state of mind. "No, no what was he thinking? it was not possible. She was very young then, she didn't know the meaning of sharing someone you love with another person. Yes! She cared for me like no one else, how much I miss her platonic love, chaste care even now."

He was talking to himself, those nine months Bondita living in RC mansion reeling in his memory. Since that day he has savored those beautiful memories of Bondita inside his heart with a sincere wish to welcome her in their haveli like that day he had arranged grand welcome ceremony after coming back from London with Saudamini.

But!! in life not all wishes come true. His sole decision intending to save Saudamini from blemish of characterlessness which his name offered her, pushed everyone immeasurably afar whose company he cherished.

Did anyone care about him? Absolutely no one!!

Who will? When he had forgotten to take care of himself. His babies, his wife, his family needed him all the time.

Laying on the bed he was musing that since Saudamini came into his life as his life partner everyone, he loved remained forbidden, be it his family or friends.

She never let him look after Bondita on himself. Telling him to respect her decision that Bondita didn't want to meet him, in letters too Bondita plainly declined his request to meet her in person. Her mild yet firm distaste mortified him but it couldn't make any difference in his heart, he always admired her like good old days and will forever. Saudamini managed everything related to her studies proactively and as expected Bondita was progressing in studies exceptionally.
