Interview 2

Lost

"W-what?!" The interviewer looked so shocked. He didn't know how to react or what to do next. It felt as if his world had momentarily stopped while he processed what Deesten had just told him.

Deesten lowers her head to hide her emotions from the camera. She knows that she didn't cry, but there was something within her that made her think that at any moment she may burst into tears. As much as possible, she doesn't want to look vulnerable during this interview.

"K-Kiel—what?!" He still looked shocked and still processing all of Deesten said.

The tension between Deesten and the interviewer was palpable, with both parties visibly on edge and perspiring. This was the first time during the interview that the interviewer had encountered such a situation, which contributed to his disbelief.

"A-again, Deesten?"

"Kiel . . . who abused his own mother." Deesten say word by word.

"Why do you say so?"

"I reminded myself that my visit to Kiel's house was solely meant to surprise him. As I had mentioned before, it wasn't about giving him an answer or saying 'yes' to his courtship to me. It was also a chance for me to apologize to him." Deesten reflecting on the day her sister gave birth and Kiel patiently waiting for her in the student lounge, a flood of memories washed over Deesten's mind.

Deesten couldn't help but wonder if there was a reason behind Kiel's actions towards his own mother. She found herself questioning the motives behind his behavior, yet struggling to understand why she felt that way.  Nababaliw na yata siya nuong time na 'yon.

"Why did you do something wrong?"

"Uhm," Deesten nodded. "Dapat may usapan kami that we will going to met after my midterms kaso . . . 'ayon hindi natuloy,"

"Because?"

"My Ate is going to deliver her baby that time." She explained. "I know it was reasonable but ang ginagawa ko kasi ay kahit tawag man lang o kaya text ay hindi ko nagawa."

The interviewer who's holding a mic nodded. May mali si Deesten, the guy thought, but it's just a simple misunderstanding.

"And after that?"

"I'm going to say sorry to him and my big 'yes' after that happened. At iyon na nga po ang nangyari."

"Can you elaborate what you see in their house?"

"That day po is a nice day for me. Good mood na good po ako parang ang gandang umaga no'n for me. Tama ang sikat ng araw, hindi masakit sa balat." Deesten smiled in front of the camera like she remember those days. "Kumatok ako sa gate nila no'n kaso no one open the gate for me . . . so sinubukan kong itulak, bukas naman siya."

Deesten still remembers that day. That day is like yesterday to her. It felt like it was yesterday—still remembering all the small details of the people outside Kiel's house and the arrangement of the garden that Kiel's mom had.

"Kahit alam kong bawal, e pumasok po ako sa loob ng gate nila. Naglakad po ako ng kaunti tapos . . . I heard a loud scream—I felt like something is off." Deesten look so serious while staring at the camera. "Parang may nasasaktan or may daing akong naririning ako sa loob. Mali, oo pero out of curiosity . . . I pushed the door . . ."

She stopped talking. It's about private na, dapat hindi na niya sinasabi ang ganuon. Dapat it's between Kiel and Kiel's Mom business. Hindi na dapat pa papasok at magbibigay ng impormation.

The interviewer looked so confused when Deesten stopped talking, and she seemed unsure if she wanted to share all the details. It was evident from Deesten's expression—he could clearly see it on her whole face from the screen.
