Too bad I wasn't on it.
"Dear John," she sang out dramatically. "Best to listen to it now." The others backed up with 'ooo' behind her. She snatched it back and dropped it in a small hole near the front. The room darkened and a soft blue light filled the room. It took a second before a blue outline of Pierce stood before me.
The stirring in the room ceased and the silence caused me to shift in my seat.
"Scanning," came a small voice and the room filled with blue light again. "Found." The blue outline of Pierce turned and crouched down making eye contact with me.
"Are you recording," Pierce's voice echoed throughout the room. Recording? "Violet, I didn't want.... This was..... this is so hard," he sighed before fiddling with his fingers. He glanced around before looking back at me. "Violet, I want you to know, I had no choice. I had to get you out of those hands and my father wouldn't listen. He was so hungry for that equation. I didn't know what else to do. I mean, I wish I could be there but...... I mean..... it sounds like I am making excuses" he started sighing heavily again and then turned looked up at something else. "Delete that Grog."
I looked around the room and every eye was on me and the projection before me.
"Got it," Pierce asked again before turning back to me. His form filled out bringing his standard color. I reached out and ran my hand through him. He just looked so real. "I'm not there Violet," he chuckled. "Violet, I'm sorry I had to send you away. I didn't want to. I like hanging out with you so much. I mean..... I like being with you.... I like kissing you..... No well Yes I do but.... Delete Grog. Did you delete it?"
The picture moved up and down and I smiled at Grog's shaking of the camera.
"Violet," he started.
"Just tell her you love her already and get it over with," a voice came behind him.
"Mom," Pierce whined out before turning back to Grog. "Delete." The camera started twirling and I couldn't help but giggle at Grog's attempt at holding the camera. I'm not sure why he was holding it in the first place.
"This isn't going to be all romantic like you like in those movies, but Violet," he held out a hand and his figure froze. I looked at him in confusion after a few seconds and wondered if it froze.
"You have to hold his hand honey," the jumpsuit in the back called out. "This is so romantic."
I blushed slightly as I held out my hand placing it where the tiny green triangle had formed. As soon as I did, his projection came back to life. His golden eyes shining so strongly that the room looked like a sunrise.
"I love you. I love you more than you can even imagine. I can't sleep without you next to me. I don't laugh without your antics. I think I started loving you when I first met you. I know for sure when you stole my helmet and forced me to recognize my family again. I had you. I had you in my arms and I screwed it up. Forgive me Violet. It is killing me knowing you will be heading to that planet of men. I know I don't have the right, but I'm asking you to wait for me. I'm coming for you as soon as it is safe. I'm getting you back." His eyes never left mine and it made me want to look away.
"That's Pierce Galloway," one woman whispered to a jumpsuit. "She bagged Pierce Galloway!"
The room filled with excitement as Pierce continued on but I couldn't hear anything over the roar. It was becoming overwhelming and I had nowhere to go and think. I needed to talk to Pierce. I didn't want him to confess his love to me over this thing. I ran my hand through again and he responded the same way as before. I wanted him to know how I felt.
As if reading my mind, the woman next to me touched my shoulder with a wink. She stood up and started shrilling music at the top of her lungs heading towards the back of the room. Everyone stood up to dance along with the music that started. It was a heavenly beat and soon the entire group was huddled in the back belting their song. The woman gestured with her hands in a sweeping motion and I knew she was telling me to leave. I took that chance and headed towards the entrance.
A jumpsuit was already there. She opened the latch and gestured for me to go. She called out something but I didn't hear her. I slid down the metallic ladder and landed on the luggage below. A hand pulled me off them and the man smiled with a wink. It was like everyone knew. He led me away from the shuttle and we dropped down in a small opening in the ground. He hit a button and a metal casing sealed us in the small room.
The man never said anything until we had left the area. He told security I got lost in the wrong area. They escorted me to the front with my sack on his shoulder. He tossed it out the door as I traipsed through. He smiled at me before slamming it shut.
My heels clicked against the hard floor as I walked towards the parking lot with my bag pulled over my shoulder.
"Pierce isn't here," a deep voice stated and I shielded my eyes from the sun to see Jon leaning against a hovercraft with a big smile his arms crossed in his familiar fashion. I turned away from him and he shook his head lifting his jacket slightly to show a weapon.
"I'm not going to Earth," I argued before heading in his direction.
"Didn't say you were," he shrugged. "I knew you wouldn't go."
"Well, it was an entire capsule of Tunics," I shrugged.
Jon pulled air through his teeth in a hiss and shook his head. "Good call."
I slid into his hovercraft and he slid in next to me.
"Where to," I asked as I looked over at him.
"Onto another adventure," Jon shrugged and banged the top of the hovercraft. It started off away from the airport.
