Lucian and Tristan's Room

Evening

Jackson rapped on the bathroom door with his knuckle and waited for a response. He heard water running and maybe a toilet flush. The door was pretty heavy and everything was muffled. He glanced back at Lucien who seemed on the verge of sleep.

In a low voice, Jackson said, "Tristan, are you okay? Come on, bud, let's not make this worse."

"Leave me alone," Tristan said. "I cannot abide more tonight..."

Jackson leaned against the door. He didn't want to break it down and cause a huge scene.

"Look, I don't know what happened but we can finish up your punishment and you can get to bed. If you keep this up, I'm going to have to go get someone to help. Then, it's going to be worse," Jackson said. What would Hayley do? Probably kick down the door...but he knew this had to be hard for Tristan. A few weeks ago, he was a big shot vampire who answered to no one.

"I am sorry, but I cannot," Tristan said. "Just leave..."
"Buddy, listen. Open the door and we will talk," Jackson tried. Ollie was going to laugh his ass off if he heard the ancient vampire hid from Jackson in the restroom. He had to think...Maybe that new guidance counselor could help?

"Okay, I'm gonna get someone for you to talk to," Jackson said with a touch of warning in his voice.

Lucien rolled to his side with a groan. "Would you like me to try?"

"Nah, you go to sleep. I'm going to get Emma, the counselor. She seems like a real nice lady. I bet she'll have a solution," Jackson assured him.

Lucien went on, "I am surprised you are not getting angry. Maybe we made the wrong assumptions about your kind?"

"Werewolves or us Louisiana boys?" Jackson smirked. "Honestly, the old me might not have been so calm, but I know what it's like to be scared. When Hayley was missing, I thought I would lose my mind. Fear ain't easy to overcome. I'll be back with some help."

Jackson padded out of the room and headed towards the kitchen. He thought he heard Emma said she had tea before turning in for the night. Jackson texted Hayley that he would be a little late and not to wait up for him. He found Dorian and Emma sitting at the kitchen counter eating biscuits out of a tin and sipping hot tea.

"Hey folks, um, sorry to bother you. But Emma, we got a situation. Would you mind helping?" Jackson asked calmly. If this didn't work, he wasn't sure what the next option was.

Emma smiled softly, "Of course. Is it one of the children? Is it Pedro?"

"No, ma'am. It's Tristan de Martel. He's one of the vampires. He got in some trouble this morning and I was fixing to, well, give him a licking. But he got spooked and locked himself in the bathroom."

"Oh dear, I think I read part of his file. Let me draw up a syringe. I will add a bit of vervain, just enough to calm him and a few other helpful herbs. Can you give me ten minutes to get my case? I was a witch long before I got into counseling. They go hand in hand," Emma reported, standing up. She smoothed down her hair and headed towards her quarters.

Jackson thanked her and then took a chair.

"You okay?" Dorian asked. "Want some tea? "

"Can you add a slug of whiskey to it? God, what a day!" Jackson lamented.
