Morning

After speaking to Jackson this morning and getting an update on Tristan and Lucien, Hayley had called Elijah. She typically would reach out to Marcel first, but this time she thought Elijah needed to be updated on what was going on. She wanted Jackson to tell him personally but Jackson was working on something in the weight room with Tristan and Lucien. She thought it was nice that he was making it a point to spend time with the two. The kids were the whole reason for the school.

Hayley passed on what Jackson had told her and they discussed their behavior plan. Elijah offered to call the boys and reassure them that he wasn't "raising an army" out of the Crescent Academy students. He was a little concerned about Jade being a ripper and Pedro, possibly being a siphon witch.

"Look, Hayley, I can fly down for an afternoon if you need me to," Elijah offered. "I can even bring my wife, Vanessa. I'm sure she would love to see the school. You know, she taught English at Mystic Falls High School. Or she did until my brother killed her and turned her."

Elijah laughed shortly and Hayley joined him. Their lives were unusual, but sometimes the worst events turned into great ones for supernaturals.

"No, I think we have this handled. Our new guidance counselor, Emma, is a witch and very skills with herbs and spells. We'll get her to cook up something. I just wanted you to be aware of what was going on with the Trinity," Hayley explained.

"How's Aurora?" Elijah wondered.

"She seems pretty good so far," Hayley shared. "I gave her a few licks with the paddle for starting a fight, but the girl she fought with is now her best friend. It was Lucien's seer, Alexis."

"Oh yes, that is fortunate. And how are you doing after your recent experience? Hayley, you really went through a lot. Are you taking care of yourself?" Elijah prodded.

Hayley tapped her pen on a file folder. "Now you sound like Rebekah and Mary. I'm pretty busy..."

Elijah's voice grew firmer over the phone line. "Hayley, listen to me. Ignoring problems and trauma doesn't just go away. You need to deal with and process them. The angels and Strix may be tamed for now, but the memories of what they did are still in your head. Talk to someone. Maybe this new guidance counselor."

Hayley took a breath. Elijah was so damn smart, it could be infuriating.

"I guess I have been having some stomach issues and feeling a little more tired. I will talk to Emma," Hayley promised. "Now, I don't want to take up more of your time. I can hear your kids calling for you."

Elijah laughed, "Yes, they are eager to get in the pool. Oddly, so is our dog, Sadie. Not sure what is up with that...But Hayley, you call me if you need me. I can fly down or send my brother Kol to compel anyone who needed compelled. And take care of yourself or I will send Marcellus to have a talk with you."

Hayley smiled, "I got the message loud and clear. Thank you, Elijah. Really..."

"You got it, kiddo," Elijah said. "Always and forever."

Hayley hung up feeling better, but a little guilty. Maybe she had been pushing herself too hard. The ongoing construction of the large building, the little day-to-day issues that she didn't realize people would argue over, like the air being too cool or not cool enough...Hayley remembered how Mary had told her that you couldn't please everyone. Josh and Aiden had mentioned they were going to the Bayou today. She longed for nothing but to see Mary and see the other Crescents they had left. It wouldn't hurt to check the camp by the water for other kids who ought to be at the academy. But Aiden had promised to run down there for her. No, Hayley had work to do here.
