Evening
Josh ended up carrying Emily to their quarters, though she kept saying she could walk.
"Sweetheart, it's okay. I have you. We'll get you in bed and talk about this tomorrow," Josh soothed.
"You aren't mad at me?" Emily inquired.
"I'm glad you are okay. But you are in trouble. I'm thinking that you should probably consider yourself grounded until further notice and I speak to Aiden. Plus, I am wondering why you were out there," Josh said carefully. He knew she was upset, but he didn't think this was the best time for a stern talking-to.
"I'm sorry," Emily said. She felt like crap. Tears welled up in her eyes and her ankle was throbbing.
"I know. I'm going to get you some Advil and some water. You get ready for bed," Josh said, as he managed to get the door opened.
Aiden was coming toward the door. "Oh my God, what happened?"
Emily replied, "I feel outside. My ankle is probably sprained."
"Oh no, what were you doing outside, Em?" Aiden asked, as Josh shook his head no.
"We'll talk about that tomorrow. Babe, could you get Em some pain meds and a bottle of water? I'm going to carry her to her room," Josh said calmly.
"Yeah, of course," Aiden said worriedly. When he got up to the bedroom, Emily was dressed and in bed. He gave her two pills and they kissed her goodnight.
Aiden paused, "Do you want us to stay? Honey, you look a little pale. Are you sure you don't want to talk about this now."
"I'm fine," Emily smiled bravely. "You guys go to bed. I'm really sorry for causing a fuss."
Josh went back and kissed her forehead again, "Hush, we'll deal with it later. But I am going to be taking your phone. I tried to call you and you didn't answer. I see it's dead."
Emily frowned, "Yeah, I thought it was charged..."
"We'll charge it in our room. Sleep well," Josh said, taking her phone.
When they got back to their room, Aiden exclaimed, "Are you going to tell me what the hell was going on?"
"Aiden, um, do you believe in ghosts?" Josh asked.
"No, of course not. What the hell are you talking about?" Aiden asked, confused.
"Em and Henry went out to that maze. No clue why. I didn't get the impression they were making out, but looking for something. But Henry saw a 'spirit" chasing them. And I know this sounds crazy, but I felt something out there. I thought I saw something, too," Josh admitted, he felt a shiver.
"I don't even know what to say. How bad is her ankle?" Aiden asked.
"Professor Vardemus thought it was just sprained. I didn't want to try to heal her in case it made her worse. I've heard of broken bones fusing the wrong way and having to be re-broken from botched healings. I told Emily she's grounded until we decide on her punishment," Josh added.
"And you took her phone," Aiden pointed out. "Unless we figure out what is going on. That's enough. I know my little brother hates when Marcel and Rebekah do that. He got in trouble for mouthing off and called me on their landline complaining. I told him he ought to have gotten a licking for his attitude and that shut him down."
