Glenn searches around camp for his sister, "hey, anyone seen Genny?" He asks walking over to the group.
"Come to think of it, I haven't seen Genny or Daryl all day," Lori says looking at him with a frown.
"Maybe they went out or something?" Dale asks.
Glenn moves his hands through his hair. "She hasn't slept last night. She was crying the whole night," he says anxiety rising in the pit of his stomach.
"Hey! Daryl needs help!" Andrea yells worried on top of the rv.
Glenn looks at the direction she's pointing at seeing Daryl run up to the group with Genny in his arms. Both are covered in ashes and Daryl has blood all over him.
Glenn and Rick arrive first to his side and Glenn takes her from him sprinting to the farm house. "What happened?" Hershel asks Daryl who is coughing and almost falls over.
Rick supports Daryl while they take Genny to the spare bedroom. "She set a house on fire. I got her out but her lip was turning purple. I got her back before she fainted again," he explains as Hershel goes to work on her.
"A house?" Glenn asks turning to him.
"Yeah, five hours out if you walk," Daryl coughs as Maggie gives him water.
"Was it brown with white windows? A dark green front door?" Glenn asks.
"Yeah, why?" Daryl asks as he finishes drinking the water.
"That's where she lived before cps took my niece and put her into rehab," Glenn reveals making Daryl and Rick look at the passed out Genny.
A few days later Genny is still sleeping in her coma in the guest room and Daryl sits by her side playing with her hand. "I don't understand you anymore," he whispers moving her bangs from her face.
Nothing in her appearance suggests she can hear him, but she does. "A kid, cps, drug addictions, able to hack into fucking DC," he pauses with a sigh, "I don't understand your past." He whispers kissing her hand.
He goes quiet and looks out the window. "We opened the barn. There were walkers in it," he takes a shaky breath and lets it out putting her hand on his forehead closing his eyes, "we looked for Sophia for two whole weeks." He scoffs.
"She was in the barn, all this time. She was in the goddamn barn. I nearly died for her. I thought...she had people looking for her. How come...how come I survived on my one when I was nine. And a twelve year old doesn't, it's unfair." He lets out a sob until he feels Genny's hand in his hair.
"Life is unfair," she whispers with a raw voice.
