2.13 beside the dying fire

Daryl walks into Genny's room and kisses her head softly. "Hey, you're back?" She asks.

"Yeah, but I'm going out again," he sighs as she sits up.

"All right. I'm coming too," she says getting out of the bed.

Daryl goes to protest but she shoots him a look. "Fine, I'll wait outside," he sighs.

She gets dressed and walks out only to see a herd and everybody preparing to fight them off. Genny runs to Daryl who gets on his bike. "Let me help you," she says grabbing his arm.

He looks at her for a few seconds and she shoots a walker that's behind him. He looks at the walker on the ground before nodding. "Hop on," he smiles.

She gets on and they start riding along the fence watching the barn burn to the ground. They eventually stop by the side watching as the barn burns down. "What now?" She whispers looking at it burn.

"We go to the highway, the others would be going there," he says starting the bike again.

She nods folding her arms around his waist. He drives off and she puts her head on his back worrying about her brother.

They eventually find Glenn and Maggie in her car. Then Lori, Beth and t-dog in Otis's car. They go to the highway where Genny jumps off the bike and runs to Glenn.

"You're okay? Not hurt, right?" She asks checking for wounds.

"No, I'm okay, you?" He asks.

She nods, "Daryl got me out." She smiles looking at Daryl.

Glenn also looks at him before nodding. Daryl gives a simple nod back before they agree on the losses. They leave again and Genny sits on the bike with Daryl.

The group eventually has to stop because Rick's riding on fumes. Daryl helps Genny get in the car where she falls asleep in seconds.

That night she sits next Daryl who plays with her hand as her head lays on his shoulder. A sound is heard and most people get up except for Lori and Carl.

Genny stands by Daryl as they listen to Rick's rant. "I killed my best friend for you people for Christ sakes!" He suddenly says.

Everybody is quiet and Genny looks at Glenn in shock. "You saw what he was like, how he pushed me, how he compromised us, how he threatened us. He staged the whole Randall thing, led me out to put a bullet in my back. He gave me no choice. He was my friend, but he came after me," Rick continues as Carl starts crying in his moms chest, "my hands are clean. Maybe you people are better off without me. Go ahead. I say there's a place for us, but maybe...maybe it's just another pipe dream. Maybe, maybe I'm fooling myself again. Why don't you...why don't you go and find out yourself? Send me a postcard. Go on, there's the door. You can do better? Lets see how far you get. No takers? Fine. But get one thing straight...you're staying, this isn't a democracy anymore," Rick says making everybody look at him before looking at their loved ones.

Genny and Glenn make eye contact worried before Genny makes eye contact with Daryl.
