She arrived at the dim-litted stage, holding the case in her hand as she put it down on the floor before opening it and pulled her violin out along with its bow.
The girl put the instrument on her neck as she started stroking the strings using the bow, closing her eyes and feel the music rushing through her veins up to her heart that was beating rapidly from excitement. Hearing the echoes of the music since she was the only one there except a couple of men who turned on the lights and put the spotlight on her.
She continued playing the music almost as if someone was watching her, keeping her eyes shut to feel the rhythm and forget all her problems for a moment. So she kept on playing, not caring if this was the fiftieth time she played this piece. She wanted it to be perfect no matter what.
The music finally came to an end as she slowly opened her eyes, letting the instrument down until she heard a clap on her left side seeing a man in a suit with brunette hair, familiar eyes looking at her along with a proud smile.
"I haven't seen you play in such a long time." he said and slowly walked to her, "You just did now." she replied in a sarcastic manner before putting the violin back in its case.
He noticed how she was behaving these past couple of days, she rarely goes back to work and mostly spent her time practicing.
"You've been distant these past couple of days, even Dad noticed it. Something bothering you?" he asked, finally getting to ask what he has been curious about.
She shook her head after she finished packing her instrument, picking it up and about to leave until her brother stopped her, "Lana, I'm serious. What is the problem?" he asked sternly and held both of her shoulders.
The girl looked at him heavily, "I know what's going to happen, Adie. And I just couldn't figure out the reason why you and Dad could keep these things from me." she confessed.
His brother's face fell and stuffed his hands into his pockets, "It isn't that. We were finding a way to tell you. And Dad told me to not inform you right away." he replied.
"Dad again?! This is the problem with you. It's always dad this, dad that. And I'm getting sick of it!" she exclaimed and took a step back, "We're not children anymore to go around and follow his orders like some pet. We're adults now for God's sake!"
"I know, I know. Everything is on a knot right now and I couldn't find a way to tell you..." he sighed while massaging his forehead. She scoffed, "Well, good thing I already figured it out myself. How are we going to tell Mom that the Commission failed? That we all die?!" she exclaimed.
"Don't say that," he hissed, "We will not say a word about what's about to happened. Dad strictly instructed to never tell Mom that—" he explained until he was cut off, "That we'll die? That we'll leave her all alone without an explanation because this is meant to happen?"
She shook her head in disbelief, "Mom's right. Dad was selfish. He only cared about the Commission. That was probably why she left him in the first place." she whispered before taking the case from the ground and leaving him alone.
