Thoughts Left To Fester Can Kill

Two weeks.

Kiyoomi had been gone for two whole weeks with no communication with anyone in the base of his whereabouts or his intentions.

The atmosphere in the base was tense, very tense, with Kiyoomi gone.

For one, Osamu was ready to murder Kiyoomi on sight whenever he came back, unless he had a really good explanation for leaving Atsumu.

The assassin in question hadn't taken Kiyoomi's absence well at all.

Without Kiyoomi holding him, Atsumu couldn't sleep. With the feeling of safety that came from being around Kiyoomi gone, Atsumu was always on edge and in the training room. He lived in Kiyoomi's hoodies and went completely cold towards everyone.

No one wanted to upset Atsumu, but that was easy because he barely spoke to anyone else in the base.

Everyone could see the effect that Kiyoomi vanishing had on Atsumu.

Atsumu would go out constantly and come back angrier than ever.

At the moment Bokuto and Kuroo were watching uneasily as Atsumu quickly destroyed another punching bag with his fists and kicks alone.

"That's the second one today," Bokuto pointed out, clearly worried, "He's going to exhaust himself if he keeps going like this..."

Kuroo nodded wearily and bit his lip, watching Atsumu nervously as the assassin began to throw dagger after dagger into a target at the end of the shooting range, all meeting their marks perfectly.

"Do we talk to him?" Bokuto asked.

Kuroo shrugged, "I feel like he'd rip our heads off if we tried."

Bokuto furrowed his eyebrows, "He and Sakusa must have been close..." He muttered out loud.

"I can hear ya, y'know?" Atsumu called, causing both of them to still instantly.

Kuroo and Bokuto hesitantly stepped into the room and Atsumu turned to look at them expectantly.

When they didn't say anything, Atsumu sighed, "I'm not gonna shout at ya or rip yer heads off, geez," he breathed out, shaking his head lightly, "I jus' miss him."

Bokuto and Kuroo glanced at each other before they moved closer to stand next to Atsumu.

"So I take it you and Sakusa were close, then?" Kuroo asked.

Atsumu scoffed, "Gee, I wonder what gave that away?" He snapped sarcastically before he exhaled slowly, "Sorry... I've jus' been on edge since he disappeared."

"That's understandable, though," Bokuto assured, "If you two are good friends then of course you'd be worried," he reasoned.

Atsumu let out a weak chuckle, "Ya see, Bokkun, he isn't jus' a close friend..." He took a deep breath, "He... He's my boyfriend," he admitted, his voice nearly as soft as a whisper.

Kuroo and Bokuto immediately understood why Atsumu was so distraught about Kiyoomi's disappearance.

Kuroo's gaze drifted to the floor of the training room. He understood Atsumu's pain fully, possibly best out of everyone else on the team, despite only being there for a few weeks at most.

He placed a hand on Atsumu's shoulder, changing the subject slightly, "Let's get you out of this stuffy training room, yeah?" He suggested.

Kuroo was glad to see it when Atsumu cracked a weak smile and nodded.

With that, Kuroo and Bokuto followed Atsumu up to the garage where they all got into Osamu's black Porsche Taycan with Kuroo in the driver's seat, Atsumu in the passenger seat and Bokuto in the back.

Atsumu directed Kuroo to drive them into the abandoned part of the city, to his and Kiyoomi's favourite spot to go to whenever they felt like getting away from the chaos of their lives.

Atsumu told Kuroo to park on the fourth floor of an abandoned four-storey parking lot that was all-too familiar. Flashes of when Kiyoomi comforted him during a panic attack two years back played through Atsumu's mind and he shook his head in hopes of clearing his thoughts. It didn't really work.

Atsumu just gulped down the lump in his throat and pulled up the hood of his, or more accurately, Kiyoomi's, hoodie.

He then clipped his mask on and turned to Bokuto and Kuroo, "We'll hafta go on foot from here," he informed, "Don't want any members of rivalin' gangs seein' us," he explained.

Kuroo and Bokuto nodded in understanding, though they didn't expect Atsumu to break out in a sprint towards the edge of the building.

He gripped onto the waist-high wall and vaulted over the edge, before he planted his feet flat against the wall itself and pushed himself forwards with a strong kick-off from the wall.

He just about gripped onto the edge of the roof of the building adjacent to the parking lot and climbed up onto it.

He turned to look back at Bokuto and Kuroo who were gaping at him in disbelief, "What're ya waitin' for?" He asked, "We don't have all night."

Kuroo gulped before he followed Atsumu's movements, though he jumped onto the wall and used it as a stepping stone to leap upwards to the roof Atsumu was standing on. He just about caught onto the edge and pulled himself up.

Bokuto took a deep breath before he, too, made the jump up to the roof, just barely making it as well.

From there, Atsumu led them to the rooftop where he and Kiyoomi had first met. They sat down on the edge and watched the stars that glittered in the night sky above them. Atsumu winced as memories of Kiyoomi's dark green, almost-black eyes flicked through his head.

Bokuto chuckled lowly, "If we weren't teammates, I'd feel like you were trying to kill us with all of that parkour," he joked.

Atsumu laughed loudly, a bit more at ease with the wind blowing through his hoodie and sweatpants, "I only kill under two conditions, Bokkun," He assured, "To survive, an' on orders from my master."

Bokuto raised an eyebrow, "'Master'? That's kinda kinky, don't you think?" He asked with a devilish grin on his face.

Kuroo snickered and Atsumu rolled his eyes, "In assassin terms, Kiyoomi would be my master," he explained.

Bokuto chuckled but nodded nonetheless.

Atsumu smiled softly behind the mask, but it wasn't long before his smiled dropped.

Someone was watching them.
