Atsumu rolled the chair around to his speaker setup and downloaded Spotify on his second phone that he kept at his hideout. He created a new Spotify account, making sure that Komori and Suna wouldn't have anything that they could find him with.
He'd cross-questioned Kiyoomi about whether or not there were tracking devices on any of the equipment, including the bike, but Kiyoomi had immediately denied it.
"I don't want to put you through the stress of being tracked and monitored again, Atsu," he'd said, "All of the equipment, including the bike, is untraceable," he'd promised before he had gently placed his lips on Atsumu's forehead.
After creating his new Spotify account and playlist, he plugged his phone into the speaker set and pressed play.
A smile dawned on his face as the song HARLEY FVCKING QUINN by Sarah de Warren started playing.
Rolling his chair back to the desk, he pulled a gas mask off the wall and a pair of goggles. He then grabbed a canister of spray paint from under his desk.
"Mm... Ocean blue..." He pondered for a bit before he decided, "It'll do."
He grabbed a kunai dagger with his free hand, shaking the canister in his other hand, and sprayed the paint onto the surface of the blade before he set it aside to dry.
Grabbing the next dagger and canister of spray paint, he giggled as he realized that the paint was hot pink when he sprayed it across the blade.
It wasn't long before he had ten daggers set aside in a rainbow array of colors. Perfect. The next song had come on already, it was red hot winter by XYLO.
Atsumu rolled his chair to the closet and grabbed the night vision goggles from inside. He then rolled back to the desk and opened one of the drawers.
He pulled out a mask he'd made a while ago from Kevlar scraps that he'd salvaged from past missions.
It was a full-face mask of plain black, similar to his old mask. However, this mask had two protrusions of Kevlar shaped like fox ears at the top, and the eyes were sharper like a fox's and the sockets were empty for now.
He grabbed a screw driver and a few other supplies from the desk and got to work. By the time he was finished, the night vision goggles had been attached to the inside of the new mask.
Atsumu was delighted when Kiyoomi had given him those goggles because they had infra-red abilities, or as he liked to call it, heat-seeker mode.
He'd even implemented a wrist attachment to switch between modes made from an old digital watch. What could he say? He'd picked up a thing or two from spending time with Suna and Komori.
He chuckled darkly to himself as he realised that his targets were going to have completely no chance at overpowering him now unless he let them.
"Oh, well, not like they had much of a chance to begin with," he thought with a nonchalant shrug.
The grabbed a spare paint brush and the metallic gold fabric paint from his drawer and got to work right as the song Dirty by grandson began to play.
With hands so steady they could rival a surgeon's, Atsumu painted perfect lines of gold onto the mask. A thin outline around each eye and two horizontal stripes that pointed inwards underneath each eye was painted onto the mask with deadly precision.
Atsumu grabbed the mask once he'd finished and clicked on the goggles using the watch. The lenses in the eye-sockets of the new Kevlar mask feintly glowed a golden-yellow colour, barely brighter than the white eye-sockets of his old mask.
He then set the mask aside and began building a strap that would keep the mask on his face and clipped to the hood of his new gear.
When he was finished with all of his workings, which included shaping and sharpening a few more kunai daggers, it had just about reached late afternoon.
It was time to start a new era for the assassin known as Vulpes, one that embraced the name of Silent Destruction and lived up to the rumors.
Atsumu stood up from the desk and stretched his arms high above his head before he made his way to the closet. He pulled out his gear and laid it out on the bed.
He went to take a quick shower in the basement bathroom before he came out and tried his new gear for the first time.
He wore a plain black short-sleeved slim-fit turtleneck top that was plated with Kevlar and shaped over the muscles of his torso like a snug-fitting glove. Over the shirt, he wore a long plain black sleeveless zip-up jacket that hung down to just below his pelvis with the zip open and the hood pulled up. He wore a pair of black cargo pants with black and gold high-top Nike sneakers. Short fingerless black gloves covered his hands up to the wrists, and a black tactical belt lined with different types of grenades, kunai daggers, black and gold spray paint canisters, and, of course, the two katar daggers in their scabbards and the Desert Eagle handgun, adorned his hips. Strapped to his back was the massive Barret M82 sniper. Last but not least, his face was covered with the new Kevlar fox mask that clipped flawlessly into place and fit perfectly. He could even wear it with his bike helmet.
Now, Atsumu was ready for his next mission. He clicked off the music that was playing, and switched the lights off in the basement.
He grabbed his helmet and the Yamaha's keys before he walked up the steps, unlocking the basement door to exit. He locked the door behind himself again and moved to the garage.
He'd never showed this much skin when on missions – granted it was only his arms – and it felt so different.
The sun was dipping behind the buildings as Atsumu opened the garage door and pushed his bike out before closing the door. He got back onto the bike, pulled on his helmet and revved his bike to life.
The sun was setting and darkness dawned across the city, signaling that it was time to start his mission. It was time to strike.
