Early the next morning, when Atsumu awoke, he found that he'd slept much better than he ever had during the past three weeks, even if he'd only slept for about two hours.
He woke up feeling well rested. When he was finished with his shower and grabbed some food, he made his way down to his old room, now home to Kuroo. He was certain that what he needed was still exactly where he left it.
Sneaking into Kuroo's room was laughably easy, since they rarely locked their doors in the base unless there were very specific reasons, like if one of the couples wanted some 'alone time'.
Not waking Kuroo up was also very easy, considering that Atsumu barely made any noise when walking or breathing.
Atsumu moved towards the bed and crouched down to reach under it. His hand brushed against a small box, and he grabbed it, along with a large black backpack that was also under the bed.
Then, he got up and left the room, closing the door quietly. He went back to his own room, only to grab his gear. He loaded all of his kunai daggers into the backpack with his new combat gear that he got two months before but still hadn't worn.
He then grabbed his mask and made sure he clipped the chain with the bullet attached to it around his neck.
He then took the time to write a note, and grabbed an extra kunai dagger, stabbing the piece of paper into the middle of the desk. He left his phone on the desk next to the page.
With that, he slung his backpack over his shoulder and made his way down to the training room. He walked right into the parkour and agility training room. He wound in between the massive foam structures, all the way to the back of the training room, where the rock-climbing wall was situated.
He efficiently made his way up the ten-metre-high wall, free-climbing right to the ceiling. From there, he jumped away from the wall onto one of the rafters.
He hopped from rafter to rafter until he was on the opposite side of the training room, right above the door.
He reached out and touched the wall, feeling around in the darkness until he felt a small gap under the pads of his fingers. He traced the gap with his fingers, it was square in shape, and there was a lock in the middle at the lower edge.
He reached into his pocket and took out the box he'd taken from his old room. With deft fingers, he took the contents out of the box and let the box itself drop to the padded flooring of the training room with a soft thud.
He then used the contents of the box, a small key to unlock the square door in the wall. He hoisted it open and looked inside, a small smile forming on his face.
"In case you ever decide you want to change your style, Love," Kiyoomi had said when he first showed Atsumu the storage compartment for the first time.
No one else except for Kiyoomi knew about this. It was where Atsumu stored his more...heavy assassin gear. Atsumu had never felt the need to ever use any of it, but this was a special occasion. It was about time Vulpes gained an upgrade.
While Atsumu's style of fighting was incredibly lethal with a one-hundred-percent kill-rate, it was getting a little boring for his taste.
Because of that, Kiyoomi had gotten him a few 'presents' to up his game a few months back.
Atsumu smiled softly and stifled a giggle at the memory of Kiyoomi precariously walking across the rafters, looking like a wobbly new-born baby giraffe trying to balance on the beams that ran across the ceiling, to show him his new gear.
Atsumu distinctively remembered Kiyoomi asking him how he was walking and jumping across the beams without so much as a misstep. Atsumu had just laughed and pointed out the fact that Kiyoomi was a lot bulkier and heavier than him, and Atsumu was shorter, so his centre of gravity was also lower.
Atsumu snapped out of his thoughts and grabbed the items from the storage compartment. The first was a set of goggles – night vision goggles with infra-red settings to be exact.
The second was a dual set of twin katar daggers. He couldn't see them in the dark but their black leather scabbards were obvious enough to him. Ever since Kiyoomi had gotten them for him, he'd been training his boxing skills to use them properly.
The katars were lightweight blades, roughly the length of Atsumu's forearms. They had H-shaped handles that made them good for thrusting and slashing, and the guards would protect his wrists more than his usual kunai throwing-daggers.
The katars were made to utilize the user's agility, something which Atsumu was adept in, though he'd have to be careful whenever he had to use his hands to help dodge attacks.
The third item in the compartment was a string of flashbangs and smoke grenades.
There were also two guns. The first being a custom suppressed Desert Eagle handgun, and the second was a suppressed Barret M82 sniper rifle.
Atsumu had always preferred knives over guns. There was just something about getting up close and personal without his target even knowing he was there that Atsumu enjoyed indefinitely.
While Atsumu didn't like the fact that he was made into a weapon, he was taught to embrace it by Kiyoomi, who he knew wouldn't lead him astray by sending him to massacre teams and tear apart families whenever someone wronged him.
Atsumu grabbed the Desert Eagle and shoved it into the side of his bag before he grabbed the Barret M82 and hooked the strap over his shoulder.
He let out a soft, "Oof," as he shouldered the sniper, knowing that it weighed a little over thirteen kilograms – roughly thirty pounds and almost a quarter of his body-weight.
It was a good thing that he'd been spending time in the weight room and gym area of the training room.
After tightening the sniper's strap, he reached into the compartment to collect the ammo for both guns and stuffed it in his bag.
The fourth set of items in the compartment was a few cans of metallic black and gold spray paint.
"It's been a while since I've tagged a kill," he whispered to himself before he giggled softly, "But this time it's for me an' Omi."
