Peter stepped out of Happy's car to see that all eyes were on him. He regretted everything he did the day before.
The girls seemed to fawn over him, and the boys just seemed confused. How did Puny Parker have abs????
Peter shrugged it off and went to find MJ, all the news over him would die down soon enough and he'd go back to being basically invisible, how it should be.
"Peter! Can I get your number?" Willa, a girl from his English class asked when he walked through the front door of his school.
"Uhh, do you need it?" Peter wasn't sure how to answer her. He didn't want her to have his number.
"Well, no, but-" She started to say.
"Great! Bye!" Peter rushed over to his locker where Ned was waiting.
"Dude!" Ned greeted him. Peter just groaned.
"How am I supposed to lay low if everyone's eyes are on me? This will die down soon, right?"
"Probably, you're very forgettable," Ned said trying to be reassuring.
Peter chuckled and let out a "Thanks, man."
They made their way over to their first class, History. Again, all eyes were on Peter.
"Can you guys, like, stop staring? It's getting weird and uncomfortable." Peter managed to get out. He didn't usually talk to the entire class unless he was doing a presentation, even then he was really bad a public speaking.
All eyes immediately scattered across the room, but a few people still stole glances at Peter.
Peter pulled out some homework he didn't get finished the day before because he was on patrol. He felt stares from left and right.
Peter was used to attention as Spider-Man. People would shout hellos to the hero that kept their city safe. But as Peter Parker, it felt weird. This is exactly why he kept his identity a secret. Although Tony Stark was planning a press conference to reveal who Spider-Man was in a months' time.
Peter was both excited and scared. He was happy that he wouldn't have to hide as much from the public anymore but scared of the attention. Peter knew all the unwanted attention that came with the reveal, but he knew that he would be ready by the press conference. He wasn't ready now. He still needed to prepare himself to give a part of his life away, to give the solitary part of his life away. He knew that once his identity was revealed he would always have eyes on him, for the rest of his life.
"Is it true?" Peter hears from beside him; MJ isn't in this class so there's always been this other girl who has never paid any attention to him whatsoever.
Peter turns to her and she's staring directly at him, "Do you have abs?" She whispers the last part.
"Uhm, I guess. Not really." This is really getting annoying.
"Oh, never mind then." And just like that the girl turns away. Maybe he should just deny the fact that he has a six pack to anyone that asks. That would help the rumor die down. Of course, the people in his gym class know the truth but if he got it across to the majority of the 'popular squad' it would spread around that it's not fake. The only problem is a lot of the 'popular squad' are in his gym class.
That doesn't matter, Peter shakes off the thought and starts forming a plan.
It would be weird if he just started announcing to random people that he doesn't have abs, so he just decided to say it to anyone who asks. Hopefully multiple students with an influence on the school would ask and spread it around.
~~~~~~Time Skip~~~~~~
It's been about a week and thankfully the right people asked people if he really had abs or not and when he said no, it all died down.
The people in his gym class are confused as hell, and some of them are even beginning to question what they saw. Few of them worry for how many scars they saw on Peter's abdomen; they just don't care for the nerd.
Peter has begun to rehearse what he would say at the press conference that reveals it all. It will reveal that he's the heir to Stark Industries, it will reveal that he's Spider-Man, and it will reveal that Tony Stark and Pepper Stark are his co-guardians. His classmates are going to go wild, especially Flash.
Peter is ready, he's ready for the unwanted attention, he's ready for all eyes to be on him. He wishes that it didn't have to be like this, but he can't stay hidden forever.
He continued to get straight A's in school, despite the constant stress of rehearsing and wanting to get everything right. He didn't have to put all this stress on himself because the conference was 3 weeks away, and he had plenty of time, but Peter is Peter and he'll be stressed for the rest of his life. He was practically made to take over Stark Industries, he's like a mini version of Tony.
~~~~~~Time Skip~~~~~~
"You ready, kid?" Tony says, he's feeling uneasy about letting his kid out in the world. He knows it has to be done at some point though.
"Yeah, I am, I'm just nervous," Peter murmurs. He really was ready. Even though he doesn't want to do this.
"You got this, you put a lot of pressure on yourself to get this right, you'll do great," Tony gently pats his kid's back even though Peter can't feel it through the Iron Spider suit.
Tony heads out on stage first greeting the mass amount of reporters.
"Now, introducing, the heir to Stark Industries, my adoptive son...Spider-Man!!"
Peter walks out on stage with his mask still covering his face, "Hi everyone! You probably know me as Spider-Man, but now you'll know me as someone else too,"
Peter's mask fades away revealing his face, "My real name is Peter Parker, I'm seventeen years old, and when Mr. and Mrs. Stark are ready to let me handle the business in a few years' time, I'll be the CEO of Stark Industries," Peter let out a shy smile that makes everyone immediately give a piece of their heart to him. It worked on Tony, Pepper, and all the avengers. Peter really was the sweetest thing in the universe.
"I'll be taking questions now, but please keep it quiet, I'm got enhanced senses which makes everything eleven times louder," Peter chuckles.
"How did you get your powers?" A reporter asks.
"I was bit by a radioactive spider," Peter answers swiftly before taking another question. And so on until an hour was up and they were ready to end the press conference.
"Thanks for coming everyone!" Peter yells out before heading behind the curtains.
Tony and Peter high five each other in celebration for how well the press conference went. All the reporters were surprisingly respectful of the young spider and how delicate his powers are. They all kept quiet and went one at a time. Tony's press conferences were never like that, he knew that the world had already fallen in love with Peter.
