"HEADACHES AND VOICES"

<•—•> "So, Chief Hoppy. What am I doing here?" Samantha asked as she sat down in Hopper's seat.

"Well, for one, I'm gonna kill you for sitting in my seat. Two, you need to stop calling me names. Three, what was that bad feeling you were talking about?" Hopper listed off and used his fingers for emphasis.

"Well, old man. I don't know what the feeling was. It was as if something really bad had happened and I could feel it. I kinda still feel it right now. Like, after the bad thing happens, the bad feeling still remains?" Samantha questioned herself and her explanation.

"Yeah, ok. I didn't understand any of that, but maybe you could help us. You can come when we go look for Will and any clues, but there are rules." Hopper raises his brows expectantly.

"Got it, Jolly Jim." She saluted him again and grinned when he rolled his eyes.

"Where do you learn these, kid?" He groaned.

"My mind is a very smart thing." She answers, tapping the top of her head.

"Rule 1. You stay behind me at all times. Rule 2. You don't tell anyone I'm letting you do this. Rule 3. You tell those kids to stay outta this and let me handle it. Rule 4–" Sam cuts him off.

"Woah, we're getting a little overboard. I think three rules are enough. Y'know, maybe you should train me to be an officer, Holly Hopper. I'd take over for you once you, y'know, die." She smiles innocently.

"I would never train you even if it kept me alive."

"Wow. That's. I'm speechless." She puts her hand to her heart in mock offense.

"Great. That's great for me." He sighs before shaking his head. "Come back here at 6:00 sharp kid," Hopper told her and she stood up, saluted, and marched out of his office.

"God, help me." Hopper shook his head.

At exactly 6:01, Samantha walked into the police station. Hopper rolled his eyes, mumbling something under his breath before making his way toward the 13-year-old.

"You're late."

"Exactly."

"I should've known."

"You're right. You should've. Now, why aren't we going?"

"Because you were late."
