How I Say "I Love You"

"I love you" isn't just a thoughtless phrase
Or some words to fill the space,
"I love you" is my cheeks that flush with joy
Every time I see your face.

"I love you" is the way that I look at you,
And the way you make me grin
"I love you" is reminding you to watch your step,
Or smashing ice cream on your chin.

"I love you" is stealing your fries at lunch
Or maybe giving you my own,
"I love you" is a stolen kiss or two
Or your selfies on my phone.

"I love you" is laughing till we cry
Over something dumb you said.
"I love you" is being there when tears of laughter
Fade to tears of sadness instead.

"I love you" is racing down the sidewalk
And the song of my heart's duet,
"I love you" is believing that our best days
Are the ones that haven't happened yet.

"I love you" doesn't have to be in words,
For it's words that often fail.
"I love you" is so many other things,
For it's actions that prevail.

"I love you" is reminding you I care
In a thousand different ways
"I love you" is the heart I give to you
And all the words I never say.
