Chapter -20

Emy walked quickly to Jacob's room to explain the incident. Unfortunately, he wasn't there. She wondered where he had gone and walked back to her own room. She walked to the window and gazed outside. Her heightened vision enabled her to see a sight which was a little far.

An egg was hatching on a nest. The little bird wiggled away the shells and cried for its mom.

The mother bird came to it as soon as it cried. She quickly caressed her little one with her wings. The mother bird hummed a melody which might have been an announcement of her little one's arrival to her fellow neighbours. The mother seemed delighted. But little did she know about the danger surrounding her.

A snake hissed from her back. She covered her child to protect it from the villain. The snake crawled forward, hissing. The mother bird understood that it need to fight back to protect her baby. She pecked the snake. The snake hissed in pain. The bird repeated this until the snake fell down.

Emy watched this and her eyes streamed with tears. Suddenly, she felt a push from her belly. She was surprised. For an instant, she did not understand and then she realised that her baby just kicked. She cried away her tears of joy and patted her belly.

"Sweetheart, did you just kick me?" She asked herself.

"What?" A voice came from behind.
Emy turned to see Jacob.

"Jake, she kicked!" She squealed.

"Oh my!" Jacob came and kneeled beside her. He patted her belly. His eyes too, welled up with happy tears. He suddenly stood up. He pulled Emy to his side and kissed her forehead.

This startled Emy but she stayed quiet. She enjoyed the moment and didnt want to ruin it by getting into an argument. Moreover, she felt safe in Jacob's arms.

She wondered if James could see this. Her eyes streamed down. She knew that James would share the same reaction if he was alive.

After a while, Emy broke out from the hug and said,
" I need to talk to you about something."

"What happened?"

Emy explained what happened with Neorah.

"You used your power again?" Jacob asked as she finished.

"Yeah. But it comes naturally. I don't know how to control it."

She thought for a while and then asked him, "where were you when I came for you earlier?"

"I was in the backyard."

"In the backyard? I thought the boundary spell was still on. Did she take it off?"

"N- No. I don't think so" he shuddered.

"Please don't try anything weird, Emy. It's not safe." He muttered looking away. "I got some chores to do." He said and walked away.

Emy felt something weird about his behaviour. Her inner self told her to check if the boundary spell was still on.

She walked to the kitchen to see if she can step into the backyard. But, on the way she saw Jacob in Calista's room. She quickly hid herself and peeped into their conversation.

"Jacob, are you stupid? Why did you tell her?" Calista roared.

"It was an accident, ok? " He snapped back.

"Jacob, we cannot lose her. We need her baby."

"Calista, I need some answers. What's wrong with Neorah?" He paused and continued after a second,"Emy thinks she possesses some kind of magical power. But I think Neorah is weak and which is why Emy defeated her." Jacob said.

"My mother is partially stuck in the other world. Her baby is my mother's blood and since it is a newborn, it will be weak.  So if we sacrifice her, we can bring my mother completely back."

"But I thought only one life was enough to bring back another life. You sacrificed James's life. So what's the problem now?" Jacob queried.

" James is not completely dead." She answered.

Hello guys,

I know it's been a looooong time. I was really really busy....my sem exams came one after the other since corona was over. And I was busy trying to study. Luckily, my four semesters are finished and their exams have also finished. Now, I have reached the final year of degree. Yoohooo!!! I guess I will get some free time from now on. So, hopefully I will start writing again.
