As the carriage rolled so did Donna's thoughts.
She might be one of the villages lords and powerful in her own right such that no human could best her even at her weakest, but when it came to Mother Miranda, she felt like a little child, weak, terrified.
Many thoughts came too mind along the lines of why did Mother Miranda need from them now, three days after the last meeting? Did they mess up and everyone needed to answer for their collective 'crime'? Did she finally succeed with bringing Eve back and would dispose of them now?
"Don't stress so much Donna! I'll bite her if she scares you!" Her doll, Angie, who was on the older side but in good conditions, in her white now off-grey colored wedding dress, said.
"Please don't." She whispered even tho they were alone and there existed a psychic link between them, the only way Donna had enough courage to talk to her own 'brothers-and-sisters-in-Cadou'.
All this worrying about why they needed to be at the meeting wasn't helped with her anxiety of being away from her home and that she'd be in the presence of others, that anyone of them could see her monstrous face, deformed by the Cadou, her veil only slightly eased her heart currently.
"I'll bite her." Angie decided with a nod, sitting on her friend's lap.
"No Angie." The doll-maker sighed. "Behave."
"You are no fun." She pouted as much as a doll with only a moving mouth could, mostly in her tone of voice, before she floated up to look out the window. "Ooooh, we are here!" She called out before the carriage indeed stopped.
Donna silently got out, holding Angie in her arms as the doll wrapped her thin arms around the woman as they entered the broken church.
"Hi Donna." Salvator, the half fish man greeted her as Alcina and Karl were already bickering like how only the vampire lady and metal man could.
She actually did like her younger brother Salvator, he was the tamest of the lords but her feelings kept her from getting too close to him or the others even if there was something there. It relaxed her to remember how she promised the Dimitrescu daughters she would teach them how to sow since they kept shipping their cloaks to her each time something happened to it, she always had a fondness for children despite them not being that small anymore.
"Good afternoon Slavator." Angie spoke what Donna wanted to say, knowing what her friend wanted to say as they both sat in their respective places.
"Why do you think we are here? Does mother need something from us?"
"Poor Salvator." She thought, it didn't help her anxiety how she felt like she was the only one to seemingly see idolizing Mother Miranda like he did or kiss up to her like Alcina did was for no good, they were all failed vessels for Eve and only kept around as they were of use to her. "A pawn like the rest of us but a very blind pawn."
This, also added to it all, the global anxiety, she was the most unchanged by the Cadou, Alcina was a woman reborn with no past or memories, Karl never had a past to miss and Salvator was fine pining for his 'mother's' love but Donna herself remembered her own family clearly and remembered what pain she felt through to get here, The scar left by the Cadou still hurting even many decades later if she thought too long about these memories.
She sighed, offering her brother a shrug as she realized she hadn't answered him.
She noticed the room was silent making her hug Angie more, knowing who was about to appear and so she did, in a flurry of black feathers that looked soft but were quite the deadly weapon, their edge able to cut flesh.
Her veil was black and others couldn't see through it even if they were to stare but she still lowered her head, in sign of respect and also fear.
"I welcome you my children." The blonde woman spoke, it always chilled Donna to hear her voice, like someone running a knife up her skin, one little jerk or hesitation away from stabbing into her side and spilling her blood and, with Mother Miranda, she didn't doubt it. "Today one of you will be gifted a new pet."
Donna didn't add to the whisper of the other lords, doubting she'd get some human to distract herself with, tho it would fight the boredom, she was by far not the favorite of the siblings despite being the second oldest after Alcina, that spot was for the vampire as she was of more use with her Cadou powers then Donna was with hers.
While in her thoughts one of the few lycans Miranda kept as her aid came in hauling a body over his shoulder, his hulking body obscuring the shape of the person.
Donna flinched silently as the body was flipped over the lycan's shoulder and dropped in a heap on the ground.
The first thing that caught her attention was the heavy cuffing and chaining on this body, clearly showing if Miranda herself tied this person up they can't be good news, next was the hair.
Donna had seen white hair before, some as white as snow, one of the old woman's in the village with her daughter that suffered from albinism but this woman's hair was more of a bone white, there was an odd fear that came with this bone whiteness since such a shade was not visible unless bone was outside of its host body.
"Here she is, your future new pet."
