Chapter 27

"I was sent by an old friend. We are project 863"

My heart stopped. I knew this day was coming. Deb was secretly working on this behind Nelson's back but I was very familiar with it during the days Wesley was still alive. Wesley would tell me about the plans to remove Nelson. The plans Deb and him had.

"Project 863 huh?" I say through the phone. "I didn't think Deb had it in her to continue her little project after what she did to Wesley"

"And we didn't think that Nelson would still be alive after finding his autopsy report," Matt says. 

"What do you want?" I say.

"Right, we would like to meet up with you to ask you questions about your time at Syntec," Matt says.

"And why would you think I would want to answer any of your questions" I snarl back. 

"Because we know that you wanted Syntec shut down so badly that you were willing to have someone poison your husband," Matt says. 

"And who told you that? Deb?" I asked rolling my eyes. 

"If you meet us we can tell you," Matt says.

"Blackmail is a game I'm quite familiar with Matthias I would watch you try to blackmail," I say sternly. "Even if I wanted to. I'm not exactly at the liberty to leave my home by myself."

"And why is that?" Matt asks. 

"Well-"

"Momma, who you talking to?" Natalia asks pulling on my shirt.

"And old friend baby. Mommy will be off the phone soon. Go back to watching your movie with your brother" I say.

"You have kids?" Matt asks.

"Two. Yes." I answer. 

"I have two myself. I can arrange for my wife to come to my office with my kiddos. Let's schedule a playdate for tomorrow at your old office" Matt says. 

I bite my lip as I contemplated my next move. "Fine but know my husband will not be happy if he finds out I visited you. You do not want to feel his wrath. You've seen his files you know what he is capable of." I say.

"Then let's keep it our little secret then shall we," Matt says. "Tomorrow at 12?"

"I will see you then," I say before hanging up. 

I quickly dial my husband's number. Knowing that his flight was short. He picks up on the first ring. 

"Miss me already?" Nelson says through the phone. 

"Of course but we have a problem," I say leaning against the wall.

"What is it?" Nelson asks. 

"Do you remember when I told you everything that Deb and Wesley had planned?" I asked. 

"Of course I do. It was the day I knew how loyal you were to me" Nelson says. I could hear the smirk on his face. 

"Her little project. They just called" I say. 

Nelson goes quiet for a bit. 

"What did they want?" Nelson asked anger in his tone. 

"A meeting with me. To talk about a deceased Nelson Syphus and my experience at Syntec." I explained. 

"A deceased... They think I'm dead?" Nelson asks with a chuckle.

"Found an autopsy report. Wanna take a guess as to what might be the cause of death?" I ask.

"Poisoning" Nelson answers quickly. "Seems like another timeline me wasn't so lucky. Did you agree to meet?"

"Of course. I told you I would if they ever came into our lives." I say to him. "To protect you and to protect our family"

"Good. Call me as soon as you get home from the meeting. I love you. Keep me updated." Nelson says before hanging up. 

I hand the phone up before heading to finish the movie with my kids.
