Humility and generosity

I watched as the Welcome sign appeared for Duskwood and I sighed knowing that these pleasant  moments were coming to an end and why I was really here came flooding back. I look ahead listening to Mr and Mrs Toton wanting to remember this little piece of normality. Then the car stops and I see a little diner
" We're here dove" Mrs. Toton says  sadly
"Mr.Toton smiles at his wife then me. I try and smile back grabbing my bag and Mr. Toton opens my door
" We need to fuel up old Betty as well," he smiles, patting the hood of the car.
" Thank you for picking me up" Mr Toton nods
" It was my pleasure" he gently pats my shoulder as he walks off. I sigh walking up as Mrs.Toton calls me I walk up to her
" Well it seems this is where we go our separate ways" she says sadly I nod feeling sad as well
" I'm really glad we met" Mrs .Toton reaches out rubbing my cheek
" So are we" I smile
" If we had ever had a granddaughter you are how I imagine she would be" my heart skips as I look into her eyes and she gently squeezed my face
" You be safe out there little dove it is big and scary when on the run" my eyes widen as she grins
" I'm old and wise and know when someone is running from something" she grinned as she grabbed my hands rubbing the back of my hands with her thumbs
" I will miss you dove and I pray that you stay safe and find what your heart is searching for" Mrs Toton kisses my hand moving away I feel something in my hand I look down then at her
" I can't take this" I whisper trying to hand her back the two hundred dollars but she pushes my hands back but doesn't let go
" Yes you can dove it will help you eat" she gently squeezes my hands once more
" Besides it's not just my money Clyde put in a hundred as well" I look up to see Clyde waving away his wife's words causing me to smile
" Think of it as a favor dove''
I look at her nodding
I lean in hugging her
" I'll never forget either of you" she hugs me tightly
" Neither will we" she lets go clearing her throat
" Though we may forget what you looked like" she smirks
" We best be off before the festivities start just be safe and stay somewhere warm tonight" I smile nodding
" I promise" I lean in kissing her cheek dropping my letter I'd written for them in her lap. Then I watch as they drive away. I sigh, putting my hood up more as I headed towards the flower shop. Keeping my head down I hear people talking and I feel the loneliness creeping in the I bumped into someone
" Sorry" I say quickly then walk away. Walking into the flower shop I grab two flowers thanking the florist and head out finding the Duskwood hotel.
" Hello welcome my dear" I nod
" Hello I'm Shay Mayfield" the women nods
" Welcome to Duskwood dear I'm guessing you're here for the festival?" I nod
" I am" she smiles as she hands me the key

I head into my room throwing my bag beside my bed. I quickly strip off my clothes and head into the shower. 
Smiling at the warmth of the water closes my eyes, enjoying the feeling of being clean. I get dressed quickly looking at the flowers.
