I could feel his gaze on me in the elevator, my ear was still bleeding and I just watched as it dripped every step I took but what could I do?
Austin's glaze was confusing, he looked at me like he didn't know what to do.
Since the gym was on one of the highest floors and the nurse's office was on one of the lowest floors we had a good five minutes before getting to her office. Today was pretty packed even though classes just started an hour ago.
It looked like students were fleeing the building. Even if they were, I wouldn't be surprised at all.
I was feeling really dull, the earring stuck in my upper neck was a mood killer, I was having a good day so far until that.
The more me and Austin walked down the hallway the more I noticed the increasing amount of students leaving the classroom. Oddly I really wanted to make it to the nurse before I got trampled like this was a travis scott concert.
I continued walking down the hallway, as Austin abruptly walked into the bathroom, the WOMEN'S one at that I started to hear some pretty upset voices and some clear sounds of hitting and a whole lot of 'I'm Sorry!' as he walked out
He came back with toilet paper in his rough looking hands "To stop the bleeding." I took it and held it up to my ear that weirdly didn't hurt.
The earring was pushed into the lower ear but still upper neck of my body so it was bleeding. It was more blood than it was in the gym. "Thank you." I spoke above the sound of shoes hitting the mopped floors and student voices.
We were close to the nurses office. Ms. Jenkins, who was the sweetest little lady on earth, would hand out suckers to some students like we were in second grade but it was still nice to get them from her.
I see her when I'm on my period and I have a really heavy flow and she is always chatting it up with me about anything, like her kids. And I don't always comment on what she says but she enjoys talking and I enjoy listening to her so we fit like puzzle pieces.
I went to open the door to Ms. Jenkins' office but Austin's hand crossed mine to open it for me. I walked in not paying attention.
"Oh, dear, how are you?" Mrs. Jenkins asked urgently. "Me and Mr. Dill did not work out. He is too controlling for my liking-" She said starting on our girly talk until she saw Austin behind me. I saw her clutch her blue scrubs, in surprise she looked at me then at him.
"My ear." I said as her eyes calmed a bit.
"Your ear?" Ms. Jenkins took my chin in her soft hand and tiled it to the side to see my earring pushed into my lower ear and upper neck.
"Good heavens!" I watched as she moved quickly to her desk to sanitize her hands, and put gloves on so she could get the earring out of my ear. As soon as she pulled it out I could feel my neck run cold and my ear start to ring.
