CHEYNNE AMORE MARTIN

It had been a few hours since I had been dropped off at my dorm and I decided to give Austin a bit of space.

Seeing what I had seen probably made him feel embarrassed or ashamed but I didn’t see him in any way or light afterwards. I was pretty worried about what he thought I thought if that made sense.

The thunder outside was bone chilling. I felt like it was going to hit me any chance it got. The lighting sky blue as the clouds dark gray. I was finding new ways to distract myself because I knew if I didn’t I would be a crying mess.

I was afraid of thunderstorms terribly. And even worse it was a mix of rain and snow along with the hail hitting the windows.

Tennessee was freezing up and the administration decided to give a day off to the teachers and students. I  was currently watching reruns of the world cup in the dorm by myself on facetime with my little sister, Cassidy.

“You know that Mondo guy is pretty fine.” Cassdiy said and I gasped I didn’t know she thought about boys that way. She was about fourteen turning fifteen in August she went to East Bay High School the same school Claire went to and all I could do was pray that she wouldn’t meet the same fate as Claire.

“He beat his own world record right?” I ask and she confirms. And the thought of what happened to Claire happening to Cassidy drove me crazy.

Claire had these friends Echo & Ezekiel according to the police she was going to drop something off for them or meet someone but she ended up being shot in the process.

But I don’t remember it happening that way.

I remember the call was something I reminisced about, she called me right after the police.

She was breathless. She told me she was shot in the leg. It was the night of a play that she had starred in. Her friend Courtney or Kimberly was writing a play and at that time she was in her senior year and wanted to go out with a bang.

Me and the whole family were packed up in the van coming to support her since she always wanted to be an actor. And she was really good at acting. We were seconds away from her.

Claire days before told me that she had to be the main character with some guy named Nate or something. They had some type of issue. The pair couldn’t work together or anything but Courtney or whoever liked how the issues they had played out into the play and kept them together.

But thirty minutes before the play had to start Nate or whoever ran outside with the script and she went to go get it to study it. But as she ran to get the script in a car with some guys that didn’t like Echo or Ezekiel I can’t remember which one they were twins.

And the guy in the car shot her.

In the call she told me that they would try to make Ezekiel and Echo look like bad guys so I was always open to the fact that they might have not been the reason that she passed.

At that very moment she told me that I jumped out of the car running to her in the parking lot. I bent down to her level and held her leg that was bleeding out her cries non existent even as she was bleeding out she never cried in front of me.
