What?! "Excuse me, what?" He said out loud, trying not to scream. When did this happen?

"You heard me. The border is closed. So you can go take your band of psychopaths and get out of here. Or do I have to call for reinforcements?" He glared at the group.

Yeti's mind was still racing. "When did this-How did this-Why?" He stuttered.

His distress must have been obvious because the guard backed down a bit. "It happened a week ago. More dragons were getting hurt in strange attacks. Queen Snowdrift decided to cut off the attackers by land so she shut down the border. But you don't seem dangerous..." he trailed off.

How could this happen? The scavengers are stronger than we thought. What's going to happen next? How did Blackpearl not see this? Questions swirled around Yeti's mind. The invincible Icewings, attacked and killed by things they used to eat.

A silence passed through the group.

"We aren't dangerous, we're the dragonets of destiny," Cherry said confidently.

"Wait, seriously? Are you here to save us? How are you going to stop the other tribes? Oh my moons! Do you need to speak with the queen?" He asked eagerly. It was like a switch had been flipped, like his job had never been this exciting.

Which it probably wasn't. Yeti thought.

And apparently no one wanted to ruin his fun because no one spoke up.

"Well of course you need to meet the queen! C'mon, I'll make the call," he pointed them towards a guard tower a few meters left of where they were standing.

"Ummm we actually don't really need to visit Queen Snowdrift-"Cherry started, but the guard cut her off with a wave of his hand.

"Nonsense!" He cried.

All the dragonets looked at each other anxiously. They knew they couldn't waste time going to see the queen, if she would even let them leave.

"So, we should head over to the palace once the other guard arrives for his shift. Then we get to the palace for dinner! Queen Snowdrift will absolutely adore you all," he rambled on.

"We do have to go," Yeti interpreted, "but we'll be sure to visit the queen once we finish our tasks here. It's very urgent."

The guard dismissed him just as fast as he did Cherry. "I'll bring you myself. I've never really gotten to meet the queen, you know," he opened the door to the icy structure and led them inside.

The tower was just a smidge warmer than outside, which made almost no difference to Yeti. The room was covered in traditional Icewing decorations. The walls had gorgeous icicle painting all over them, and the floors were coated in silk rugs.

It quite honestly reminded Yeti of his parent's house.

"I just need to go grab my bag. After that we can go, the other guard will be here by then," the guard said. He waved to them before walking up the stairs. The second he was out of sight the entire group huddled up.

"What are we going to do? We can't just let him take us! We'd be stuck at the queen's palace for ages. The war will sort itself out before we even get the chance," Shard spoke up.

"Well we can't fight him!" Cherry pointed out, looking directly at Amber. She grinded her teeth together in frustration.

"What else are we supposed to do?" Amber asked, "Just let the queen kidnap us?"

We just need to find a way to figure out what's going to happen. Yeti thought. He'd never met the queen before so for all he knew she could be the nicest dragon ever. Wait, Blackpearl might be able to tell!

"Blackpearl, do you know what the queen is like? Do you know what she'll do to us? Can you see?"

"You've just reached a new level of stupid. Her powers are broken, remember?" She sighed impatiently. "Just ignore Yeti. So I think we can..."

Yeti tuned her out, instead focusing on Blackpearl. She was leaning on Boriel more than normal. Her eyes were closed, but she didn't look peaceful. It looked like she was having a vision. Stupid Amber! She isn't broken! He felt triumphant, like he caught a piece of prey no one else could.

"Everyone into position!" Amber yelled as footsteps started coming down the stairs.

The second his claws emerged from the stairwell Amber ran over and trapped him, clawing at his neck.

A talon dug into Yeti's shoulder. He whirled around to face a dizzy Blackpearl. "It's safe," she whispered.

Yeti ran towards Amber, barely stopping her from clawing out the guard's throat.

"I'm so sorry. Amber is a bit worried about meeting the queen. However she realizes that Queen Snowdrift is as precious as a pearl. Our future will be brighter if we go to meet her," He smiled kindly, removing Amber's claws from the poor guard's armor.

"This is the time you say "sorry", Amber," Yeti smirked at her.

She scowled back at him. "I'm very sorry sir, it won't happen again."

"There's no need to call me sir. My name is Polar," he replied graciously. Nothing could ruin his euphoria at this point. "My brother Snowstar will be here any minute and then we can leave."
