Cherry squealed loudly and grabbed Shard's hand. Shard looked at the guard dully, and Boriel and Blackpearl groaned simultaneously. Amber's claws twitched and she glanced at Yeti startledly.
"Snowstar?" Amber's voice wavered, and she grimaced. "Snowstar is your brother."
"Yep!" Polar said cheerfully. "Why? You know him?"
Amber scowled and opened her mouth, but Yeti cut her off. "Y'know, we have to go."
Polar narrowed his eyes suspiciously. "Why?"
Cherry smiled and said, "Yeti has to visit his parents! He hasn't seen them in a while, and you have no idea how much they miss him." Cherry shifted her scales into a light blue and white, obviously to flatter the guard.
Polar opened his mouth to say something, but Boriel and Shard were dragging Blackpearl out of the door and Cherry hurriedly pushed Yeti and Amber toward their direction.
"M'kay," Cherry called, "thanks for understanding, 'K, byeeeeee!" Cherry gave a cheerful wave of her wing and then kicked the door shut, her hands still pushing Yeti and Amber into the cold snow and wind, and pushing them closer, closer...closer...
Amber shrieked and leaped away from him. Her face flushed and she scowled. "Three MOONS, Cherry! Just because YOU'RE in a relationship doesn't mean we ALL have to be." She glared at Yeti and muttered something like, "Frost face".
Cherry cast a wicked grin at the two of them, then went to stand next to Boriel and her warm Mudwing scales.
Yeti scowled at her retreating back. Of COURSE he didn't like Amber. And she didn't like him! Just look at the scowl on her face, and the way she jumped away from him when their scales touched, and the way she stomped her perfect talons into the snow, and her eyes glittering with some deep feeling like anger...or... love...
NO! Yeti thought furiously. You don't like her. This is just Cherry rubbing off on you. Cherry's twisted, twisted, brain. I have a crush on Blackpearl! That's it.
Yeti harrumphed and turned to look at the glittering ice castle in the distance. We have enough problems already, both relationshippy and prophecyishy. And those are totally words. He concluded.
"OK, where next?" Shard asked, breaking into Yeti's thoughts. The rest of the prophecy dragonets were huddled together to keep warm, even Amber, who looked uncomfortable with touching other dragons.
Cherry stepped toward Yeti with a smile, as if she was going to reveal something dramatic, then froze and started hopping around, her scale color changing rapidly. "COLD cold cold cold" she shrieked, then hurried back to huddle with the other dragonets. She cleared her throat and started again, this time with more of a grimace than a smile. "We still have to go to Yeti's parents."
Yeti groaned. "I don't want to see them," Yeti whined.
"Oh, suck it up, you big pansycake," Amber snapped.
Yeti looked at her, surprised. "Excuse me?"
Amber shuffled her feet to warm up. "I said, suck it up! Look at us." she pointed her chin at the others. "I don't care if you have family drama. We need shelter, fast, and away from Snowstar. Look at us! We're half frozen already."
Yeti looked at the stubborn tilt of her chin, her perfect lips tilted downward in a frown, and didn't hesitate. "Let's go, then."
Amber widened her eyes in surprise, but smiled.
As the dragonets lifted into the air, Cherry flew up to Yeti and whispered, "Amber and Yeti, flying in the sky, being all K-I-S-S-Y!"
Yeti growled and scowled at her. "You better not say anything like that in front of my family, or so help me I will stab you with an icicle."
