"Oh my moons, Yeti! It's actually you!" She ran over and embraced him tightly. "I missed you so much!" She sighed into his shoulder. It felt so good to be with her again.
"I missed you too," Yeti smiled.
"When you weren't there I got so worried and no one would tell me anything and Tern went looking for you all over the kingdom and-"
Yeti put a talon across her snout. "I'm safe," he whispered. Pika melted in his arms. She's so sweet.
"Get OFF of him!" Amber yelled, prying them apart. Pika fell to the ground, clutching her side. Amber hovered over her, frowning. "WHO are YOU and WHY are you attacking YETI?"
Pika winced, then shot Yeti a grin. "Our hug didn't look THAT malicious, did it?"
Cherry came over and stood next to Amber, a look of confusion on her face. "Hug? WHat? I thought Yeti liked Am-"
"UM, CHERRY, LALALALASHUTUPLALA." Yeti lunged over and clamped her mouth shut.
"So much for our dramatic reunion," Pika giggled. She stood up and slipped her hand into Yeti's. "Who are all of you? I'm Pika." She curiously looked at everyone.
"Shard, Amber, Boriel, Blackpearl, and Cherry." Yeti pointed them out.
"Where are you heading?" Pika asked. "Oh, PLEASE come to my house, Yeti! We've all been so worried about you. Tern even said they'd give us a piggy back ride! Just like old times."
Yeti laughed at the memory of Tern being forced into those piggy back rides, and how even then, he loved being with Pika.
"Old times?!" Amber cried. "What are you talking about?" She scowled at Yeti's talons, which were intertwined with Pika's.
"We're friends. We grew up together. Is there a problem?" Pika smiled. She slyly twined her tail with Yeti's, like Blackpearl and Boriel would always do.
Amber's eyes flared with rage. Maybe Cherry wasn't joking about her liking me. Yeti thought, while completely ignoring Pika's romantic gestures.
Amber stepped back, nearly trodding on Shard's tail, and turned to Blackpearl as if to start a conversation. Yeti could almost feel the waves of pure anguish radiating from the Skywing.
Cherry stepped toward the two of them. "Sooooooooooooooooooooooo, Pika? How long have you known Yeti?"
Pika blinked in confusion and smiled sweetly at Cherry. "Since...we were children. Childhood friends, remember?"
Pika and Cherry laughed, but then Cherry stopped abruptly and shivered deeply. Shard moved over to her and wrapped his wings around her. Cherry smiled, but they were both shivering.
Pika noticed, too, and she said, "How about you come to my hut? You look like you could use some tea and get warmed up."
"Thank you," Boriel said, smiling.
"Anytime," Pika replied, smiling her first earnest smile towards Yeti's friends.
Blackpearl sneezed, and Pika beckoned for them to follow her. They all jumped into the air after her, everyone moving a lot less gracefully than Pika. Amber tried to fly off the bridge, but she slipped on the ice and started falling to the ground below. Before Yeti could cry out, Pika swooped down past him and grabbed onto Amber.
Amber sooned regained balance and flapped her wings, scowling at Pika. "I'm FINE." She grumbled.
Pika looked at Amber with a mixture of confusion and anger, looking like she wanted to reply, but she just shrugged and caught a burst of wind, spirling to the ground.
