Yeti lay in bed, his thoughts scattered. Amber had been missing for a while, and everyone was worried, especially after Shard and Boriel never came back from their search and rescue mission. Of course, no one blamed him, but he felt it inside. And nothing can shake that kind of guilt.

The door creaked open, revealing a shivering Pika. Her face was frozen in fear and he had no idea why.

He ran over to her. "What's wrong?" He asked.

"Shard and Boriel came back," she murmured, the look of pain never leaving her eyes.

He blinked. "And Amber?"

She sighed.

"And Amber, right?" He knew the answer without Pika even saying anything. His face fell. What had he done? What if Amber was dead? Pika clearly noticed, because she wrapped her arms around him. "What happened?" He managed to get out.

Pika looked up at him. "Scavengers."

A tear slipped out of his eye. She was probably gone. Everyone knew what the scavengers did to dragons. They killed and they conquered. That was their only purpose in life. And now Amber was their victim.

He knew nothing Pika could say would make it right. Nothing would ever make it right.

"You know Amber. She...she probably fought." Pika said. And didn't survive, added Yeti in his mind.

Yeti pushed himself away from Pika, running out the door. He tried to escape but everyone was waiting for him. He shoved his way past them, but Shard grabbed at him. Yeti shook him off, determined to keep running.

He raced into the icy yard. For once, he felt cold in the frozen wasteland.

He could feel eyes on him, but no one moved towards him. They all knew what he would do if they even tried to comfort him.

Yeti roared and let out a puff of frost breath, freezing the bush in front of him.

Yeti felt the ice and snow under his talons. "Why Amber?" Yeti grumbled. "Why couldn't it have been one of you?" He said pointedly at Boriel and Shard.

"Hey, not cool," Blackpearl snapped.

"I'm JUST SAYING, she's the strongest. It doesn't make sense that she'd...well...die when these two WEAKLINGS didn't!" Yeti argued.

"Shut up, Yeti!" Cherry glared.

"Well, you HAVE to admit it's suspicious. Maybe you two were jealous or something. And, we all know Shard has had a..dramatic past with Amber." Yeti moved closer to Shard, his eyes narrowed. They mutually glared at each other for a while, and then Yeti moved on.

"Now, Boriel definitely has the strength and brains to challenge Amber-"

"And I don't?" Shard cried, indignant.

"Um," Cherry said as he turned towards her, "That's a good thing, honey."

Shard nodded, not quite believing it but not wanting to contradict his girlfriend.

Yeti coughed. "If I may continue?" Nobody nodded or said he could, but he did anyway. "Together, Shard's motivation to kill, and Boriel's ability. No wonder you two volunteered to "find" Amber and bring her back. It gave you. The perfect. Opportunity." Yeti finished with a smile, proud of being able to find out what happened.

Everyone was silent for a moment, then they started talking all at once.

"That kind of makes sense," Pika muttered.

"NO IT DOESN'T" Cherry yelled.

"SHUT UP. Don't bother Boriel!" Blackpearl yelled, putting her arm around her girlfriend.

Boriel was starting to cry, and Shard was crumpled on the ground, sobbing.

"Oh, get a hold of yourself," Cherry snapped at him. "It's embarrassing."

"Ok, ok...I can *sob* do that." Shard said, wiping his tears away.

Amidst the further arguing, Tern walked up to Yeti. "I know you're trying to help, but maybe...maybe you should stop," they suggested.

The arguing behind them grew louder, and Tern grabbed Yeti by the shoulders and briskly started pushing him away from the ice hut.

"Go for a walk, and when you come back, I don't want to hear another word." Tern said sternly. "Please," they added in a softer voice, "there's enough going on. They can't take this. Remember, it wasn't just you who lost a loved one today."

He stormed away, walking towards the woods. Our mission is doomed anyways. The prophecy said 6 dragonets and clearly only 5 of us are living. Therefore I can't be fulfilled and I can leave this place.

He thought about living in the wild, away from everyone that knew him. He could make a new life in a small town of hybrids. No one would do so much as find him, nevermind forcing him into a destiny.

So he started running full speed into the trees when he crashed into someone.

Cherry materialized in front of him. "I-have-something-to-tell-you-" she panted.

"Clearly," he rolled his eyes.

Cherryblossom grabbed his arm. "I'm serious. Shard let me check to see if Amber was alive."

A flicker of hope danced through Yeti's mind. "And?"

"She's alive."

He rejoiced, thankful for the chance to see her again.

"But she's in grave danger."
