Amber was growing weaker by the second, scavengers surrounding her.

I won't give up! I'll keep fighting... I promised Boriel and Shard. Amber staggered as she dodged a scavenger weapon.

They...they're far enough away now, right? Amber thought. She took her eyes off the battle to look in the distance at the two dots she assumed were her friends. I can probably go join them.

Amber took a heavy step and waited for the world to stop spinning. She took another step and barely stopped herself from staggering into a scavenger spike lodged in the ground.

The scavengers came surging forward and she swept a pile of snow onto them with her tail, burying half of them. She took a deep breath and another step.

Why do I feel so weak? She thought, wincing at the pain in her leg. Suddenly it hit her. I must have been poisoned, she thought.

Amber faltered for a moment. Was she going to die? Was she already dying?

I DON'T EVEN CARE BECAUSE I AM KILLING THESE MOON CURSED SCAVENGERS AND FINDING MY FRIENDS and Yeti AND THAT'S THAT.

Amber roared loudly to the sky and set the nearest scavenger on thunder.

"YOU CAN'T KILL ME, PUNY BUGS!" Amber yelled, while stabbing a scavenger through the gut.

"I DRINK SCAVENGER BLOOD!" she growled, biting a scavenger.

"I ROAST SCAVENGERS AND MAKE S'MORES!" She howled, stabbing a scavenger with one of its own weapons and setting it on fire.

She stopped for a moment, catching her breath and pressing ice against her wounds. Then she continued.

"I WILL KILL ALL OF YOU AND BAKE. YOU. INTO. COOKIES!!!" Amber grabbed five of them and threw them into a fire, using two more as kindling.

She paused again, feeling slightly queasy. Unusual. Usually she drew strength from the sight of blood.

Oh right. The poison.

Amber threw herself back into the fight, determined not to die. If I don't think about it, it won't hurt me, she told herself. Too bad she was an awful liar.

Finally, Amber gave up. Turning away, she took a few steps and then lifted into the air. Her wings ached from the poison and her lungs burned. She tried to breathe but the cold air hurt too much and she landed again.

The scavengers started coming after her again. There were too many, nothing Amber did could stop them.

Amber stretched her wings and tried flying again. She managed to catch the wind and she flew several feet before crashing into a small patch of pine trees. She staggered to her feet and blasted fire at the on coming scavengers.

Why won't they stop? Amber thought. Her brain felt slow and sluggish and her feet felt overly large, tripping over each other. She backed away from the scavengers and stretched her wings out again, determined to fly away from them.

Her wings felt numb and she choked back a sob. WHY IS POISON SO PAINFUL.

Amber ran towards the scavengers and stretched her wings out, flying over them just before they threw their weapons at her. She felt her wings burn but she didn't stop. She tried to fly as high as possible to where they couldn't shoot her down.

She flew for several seconds, but her mind was spiraling, and she ended up flying in circles. Amber finally managed to start flying in the right direction, but her mind felt like chocolate pudding.

Where am I going...? Oh right, meeting...with... shard and...boriel...

Amber's mind started to shut down, and she started functioning on autopilot. Something flew past her, a scavenger weapon of some kind. She narrowly missed getting hit.

Another one hit her foot and expanded into a net. It only got her foot, but it knocked her off balance and she almost crashed into an especially tall pine tree. Amber ripped it out of the earth and set it on fire. She threw the flaming tree towards the scavengers, but not before one of them managed to shoot another net at her.

The net hit her wings and expanded, bounding them together within seconds. Amber, with a shriek, plummeted to the ground.

She grabbed a branch with her tail like RainWings do when flying through the crowded forests, but she kept her tail wound tightly around it, trying not to think about what would happen if she fell to the ground

Ok...the...wings...Amber thought wearily. I could...burn the..nets?

NO. Amber's intelligent mind said. That would hurt our wings.

Yeah...agreed Amber's poison-addled mind. So...let's maybe fall to the ground?

Before Amber's intelligent mind could reply, her tail unwound from the tree branch and she started falling.

Weeeee, her unintelligent mind cried.

NO! STOP IT! NOOOO! Amber's sane mind screamed.

Amber fell two feet to the ground. Guess that branch was closer to earth than we thought, both her minds agreed. Amber struggled against the ropes in vain. There was metal laced in the ropes to make them stronger. Amber fell limply to the ground, giving up.

One brave scavenger walked up to her, and Amber bared her teeth. "Back up or you'll find how savage we SkyWings can be."

"OK," the scavenger replied. Amber yelped. WHAT WHAT WHAT SCAVENGER SPEAKING DRAGON TALK WHAT WHAT WHAT DOES NOT COMPUTE.

The scavenger laughed. "Oh, yes, I'd imagine you'd be surprised."

"What?" Amber weakly cried.

"I have learned the dragon language, and with it I have formed alliances with several...powerful dragons." The scavenger laughed.

"Like...who?" Amber asked, a feeling of dread settling over her. Who did she know that was in the ice kingdom, pathetic enough to form alliances with scavengers, and was over all pathetic?

The poison continued hurting Amber, and the world started to get blurry.

The scavenger continued talking. "Abominable Snowman."

The dread completely fogged Amber's mind. She was poisoned. Her friends were too close to Yeti's dad, who was associating with villainous scavengers who were trying to kill her.

Amber's eyes got watery, but she stubbornly told herself the cold was stinging her eyes.

The scavenger looked at her. "I would continue gloating and talking about how I know everything about your 'prophecy' and where these so-called 'prophecy dragonets' are staying, but you don't seem to be paying attention. Wow, are you still conscious? Even with all that poison? Ok." The scavenger motioned to someone behind Amber, and she felt a sharp pain in the back of her head.

And then she fell into a dark void of slumber.
