act I chapter III

Rory sat in the front seat of the blonde man's car. Miguel laid in the back seat, still unconscious. The man drove to his apartment building that he and Miguel lived at.

"Stay in the car, alright? I don't want you to get all caught up in this," The man said.

Rory nodded as they left the car. She watched the man carried Miguel up the stairs and into the apartment building. Miguel's mom screamed as she saw her unconscious and bloody son.

"I don't want you near my son EVER again!" Miguel's mom shouted at the man before slamming the door in his face.

Rory winced at the man's sadness. She didn't really know the relationship between that man and Miguel, but it was obviously strong enough for him to be sad about Miguel's mom forbidding them from each other.

The man got back into the car. He had a disappointed look on his face. Rory looked down to pretend like she hadn't been watching the whole time.

"So, how did that go?" Rory asked.

"Not very good," The man replied, trying to ignore the question as much as possible, "Anyways, where do you live?"

"Yorkshire Lane. You know where that is?" Rory answered.

The man looked at Rory like she had 5 heads. He nodded slowly and turned back to the front and began to drive.

The 10 minute drive was mostly silent, besides the rock music blaring. Rory looked around the man's car. Something seemed very familiar, she just couldn't figure out what.

"Oh, my name's Rory by the way, Rory Teller," Rory turned to the man and introduced herself.

"Johnny," The man added.

Rory nodded and looked back to the front of the car. Suddenly, her heart dropped. She realized what was so familiar. This was the man who Yasmine had hit in the parking lot.

"You look pretty familiar. Do I know your parents?" Johnny asked.

Rory's eyes widened. He was noticing her. She had to think of something quickly.

"Uh, maybe. My mom works at a bar," Rory replied.

Johnny nodded as if he knew what she was talking about. Rory sighed in relief. If he found out, that she was the girl that hit his car, she would be in deep shit.

They pulled up to Rory's home and she opened the door to get out.

"Thank you for taking me home, Johnny," The girl said while smiling.

"Yeah, whatever," Johnny replied.

Rory shut the door. Besides the fact that Miguel got beat up and she had completely lost Aisha's trust, the night had gone decent. Especially the connection with Eli and Demetri.

"So, you got into a random guys car that smelled like beer and crap?" Sam asked the blonde girl.

Rory sighed and nodded. Sam and Rory were in the library studying. She had told Sam about the night before. How Miguel had gotten beat up, how Johnny took her home, and how Eli had smiled at her.

"Oh my god! Look behind you!" Sam whisper yelled.

Rory gave her a confused before turning around to see Eli, Demetri, and Miguel sitting at the table behind them. Eli was staring at her and quickly looked away once she noticed. Rory smiled and turned back around.

"He was definitely staring!" Sam exclaimed.

"SHH! So what?" Rory replied, trying to act like she didn't care.

Sam rolled her eyes and laughed. She obviously knew that Rory cared. Especially about Eli.

"You should go talk to him. It won't be as awkward now! I mean, they all must have a little liking for you by now," Sam suggested.

Rory knew she was right. Although, she was still nervous to talk to Eli. Even though they talked yesterday evening and they had an interaction last night.

"I don't know, I guess I should," Rory said, looking back at the boys.

Sam smiled and nodded aggressively. Rory took a deep breath and got up to go talk to them. When she turned around, she saw Kyler and his friends standing above them.

"Hey freaks. Are you staring at Rory, lip?" Kyler asked Eli.

Rory looked at Sam frantically. Kyler was her boyfriend, so she didn't know what to do. Sam shrugged and mouthed 'I don't know!'

"We were just leaving now," Miguel gasped as the three boys picked their supplies up.

Suddenly, Kyler grabbed Eli by the jaw. This time, Rory wasn't nervous. She didn't look at Sam for help, she didn't contemplate anything, she just did what her brain told her to.

"Hey! Get the hell off of him, Kyler!" Rory shouted.

Kyler let go of Eli and looked at Rory, confused. Although Rory didn't like Kyler, they still hung out because of Sam.

"Rory?" Eli and Kyler said in unison.

Kyler walked up to the blonde girl. He was only a few inches taller than her so he stood above her a bit.

"Turning on us now, huh Ror? Protecting your boyfriend?" Kyler asked.

Rory had so much anger and annoyance built up inside of her that had been sitting there since 7th grade. And she took all that anger out on Kyler's face. She swung at him and punched him in the nose and jaw. He stumbled back grabbing his nose, which was bleeding.

"Are you gonna leave them alone now?" Rory asked loudly.

Kyler grabbed his backpack and ran out of the library, with his friends following. Rory stood there, feeling stronger than ever.

"Are you guys ok?" Rory asked the boys.

Eli, who was standing next to Rory at this point, wrapped his arms around her.

"Thank you so much, Rory," He said, hugging the girl tightly.

Rory hugged back, smiling the whole time. She had thought that she would never earn the trust of any of her friends again. But, she was wrong.

"Of course. You are my friend," Rory said, "Well, I think you are."

"Yeah, you're my friend," Eli said, smiling.

The three boys grabbed their bags and began to walk out. Demetri nodded at the girl and Miguel smiled widely.

"Oh. My. God," Sam said.

"Listen, Sam I didn't mean to punch him that hard. I know he's your boyf-" Rory began.

"No! That was amazing! He deserved that! And Eli hugged you!" Sam exclaimed.

Rory blushed and smiled. She hadn't felt this strong and happy since before Yasmine recruited her. Now, she knew that Eli was her friend, there was just one issue; Yasmine.

STOP ELI AND RORY ARE SO SASBSHAHA. sorry for such a short chapter i just needed more help getting eli and rory to get closer and this chapter was a perfect filler. the chapters will definitely start to get more interesting very very soon!! i just needed to introduce the oc to all of the characters and get the story started up but now i can get interesting!! i'm so excited for this story guysss!!
