Nineteen

               Will sat down on the couch, hearing Mike talk.

                It had been exactly one month ever since they started dating. And Will had never been happier.

                But one moth, without Jonathan. He would never see him again, and Will knew that. he missed Jonathan, more than anything. 

               Jonathan would have loved the fact that him and Mike were together.

             "-and then I threw a rock at him. His nose was bleeding, you should have been there."

              Mike was talking about when he went to Maine with his cousin for the summer.

              Will smiled as Mike grabbed his hand tightly. He loved Mike.

             When El found out about their relationship, she took things with ease. But she and Mike still had a tense relationship. 

             Will tried to concentrate, but Mike hugged him tighter. Will's heart started to race, quicker each time. 

                "So, maybe you can go with me next year. I think you'll get along with....uhh... Eric? I think thats his- no, its Eddie!"

              Will laughed. Just as he stopped laughing, El steppped in the room. Mike quickly shifted positions, clearly uncomfortable.

              "Mike. Can I talk to you?" El looked at Mike with a death stare, as cold as his mom's room.

               His mom. Joyce was doing much better, but every now and then she still cried.

               Will rested his head back as El and Mike walked away together. He closed his eyes, gently.

               It seemed like forever until he opened his eyes again. But he wasn't in his room. He was in the Upside Down.

              A creature approached him, but he seemed human-like. He cupped Will's head, sending shivers down his spine.

             "Will, we meet again. Now do as you're told, kill the girl. Kill Eleven." The creature had a dark, gory voice, which scared Will to death.

            "P-Please... let me go!" Will shouted, surprised with his own volume. He didnt want to be here. Not again. Not again. Not again.

            "I'll let you go, if you promise to be my spy. Tell me all of her plans. Her strengths, her weaknesses. Tell me who she trusts, tell me how to stop her. If you do, I'll let you live." The creature grabbed him tighter.

             Will didnt know what to do. he couldnt harm his sister. But there was no way out, and he knew his mother could not take another death. There would be no Jonathan to comfort her.

            "F-Fine..." Will mumbled, and the creature let him go. Will had yet shown to be weak, poor helpless Will. A burden to all of his friends, and to Mike. Maybe he should have let the creature kill him.

           "What's your name?" Will sobbed softly, feeling weak. So weak. 

            "Im not sure. I dont remember." Silence. "How about you give me a name, kid?"

           Will looked at the creature. He reminded him of a DnD character, but he didn't know who.

          "Umm, maybe Vecna?" Will stared as the creature chuckled.

            "Vecna, huh? I like it, kid. Now do as I tell you, or else." Vecna said with a sly voice.

          Will let all of his thoughts sink in. He now had to plot against El yet again, or he would surely die. But he didnt want to hurt El. He didnt want to be a puppet yet again.

         But he had no choice. He had fallen as the easy target he was yet again. And now he wanted to die again.

         Will closed his eyes, hoping to escape the Upside Down. But it didnt work. So he sat down, sobbing again. It was worthless. No, he was worthless.
  
           The cold wind pressed against his skinny arms. He laid there, hoping to die. But his story wasn't over.

           

            "Mike." El shut the door behind them, leaning on the door while chewing gum. She had her hair braided, surely Max had done it.
   
            "Mike!" Mike realized what was happening.

            "Yeah?" Mike stared at the ground. He hated when people yelled at him. Silence filled the room, making his thoughts louder.

              "I-I have a question Ive been meaning to ask for a while. You're dating Will now, and I.... did you ever love me?"
  
             The silence got louder. This time, Mike had no response, because he wasn't sure. He didn't know if he ever loved her. Heck, he didn't even know if he has ever loved anyone.

              Did I ever love El? Do I love Will?
 
              "I-I..." Mike's speech trailed on. He didn't even know what love was.
          
           "So, did you?" El looked sadly at Mike, who stared at the ground. His heart sank. He had no answer.

           I'm sorry. I don't know what love is. Why were those words so hard to say??

           "I don't know" Mike sighed, feeling like he was about to die. His heartbeat dropped.
           
           "Look, I'm not mad that you broke up with me. But if you hurt Will's feelings, I promise I will break you apart. You know I will."
            Damn. The air chilled arpund their bodies, and suddenly, for a second, it felt like if they were back at the Upside Down. Mike could hear his own heartbeat as he walked away from El. It wasnt his imagination; something was happening.
             
          El's eyes, her skin, changed. Her eyes, now a pale green, made her brown eyes seem alien. Her skin lost its light tan, carrying instead a pale color.
           
       Mike backed up, walking with such speed. His eyes must have decieved him; there was no way...
           
          Dont be afraid. A voice inside him told him. But it was not his voice, no. It was another voice, a familiar voice. Els voice.
          
          "El, I know you can hear me. Or well, i can hear you. Whats happening?" Mike walked faster, only feeling his heartbeat, his breathing. The air around him gushed with such a freezing temperature, while he ran. His fingertips, feeling the frost from the green-looking room as he backed up. Farther and farther, the world seemed from him as-
         
         He fell. The floor, the walls, returned to their normal color. Mike looked around, still phased by his experience.
          
        He saw why he had fallen; Will. Will was on the floor, crying, feeling guilty if something Mike had no idea.
          
        "Whats wrong?" The words escaped his mouth as he saw Will's legs, his arms. They were pale, like El's.
       
        There was nothing to do. Absolutely nothing, except hug him. The two boys embraced each other, not caring about anything in the world, other than they were safe.
      
             Safe for now.

 
     Guys im so sorry. I was in the hospital for a while and then recovering at home and completely lost motivation. But now im back and excited to write.
