Zombies

Chapter 11

A couple of things have changed since the cheer championship. Addison decided to take her wig off too, our parents weren't too happy about it but what can they do, everyone already knew about me so what's the harm in Addison being who she is too? Zed and I are still together, and were really happy, although I haven't seen him all summer because I have been doing that summer art course I told you all about. It's so great here. I'm learning a lot of new techniques and my teachers think I have some real potential. Seabrook is a lot more open to zombies now and is getting rid of all of their old anti-monster laws and so Zombie Town is open to everyone.

Summer Art Class is over, sadly, but I'm so excited to get home and see Zed. Zombies are allowed to participate in prawn this year and I'm super excited. I never thought that I would go but to get to go with Zed, would be a dream come true. If he asks me that is.

As I was looking out the bus window I noticed signs on the side of the road. They read, 'Harper will you', 'go to the prawn' and as I waited for the last sign I noticed someone standing in the middle of the road on a ladder. "Zed!" I called out which got the driver's attention but it was too late because the bus had already hit him.

We landed in the woods with a jolt and as soon as the bus stopped I ran out to find Zed. The forest was quiet, really quiet. But I could hear rustling in the bushes. "Hello? Zed? Is someone out there?" I call out into the woods, and suddenly I see what looks to be werewolves howling, but they quickly run away. I feel a hand on my shoulder and scream as I turn and punch whatever's behind me.

"Zed! I'm sorry" I say to him and quickly give him a hug "oh my god I missed you so much!" "I missed you too" "Zoey?" I question as she runs up behind Zed, "listen we're not alone, we're surrounded by werewolves" I say and everyone else who was on the bus freaks out from behind me.

"Guys I'm fine, really" I assure my family. "Mum, Dad everything's fine" "everything's not fine, we have werewolves circling us right now ready to attack", my mum then walks up to the podium and announces that all anti-monster laws are reinstated. "What? Mum that's not fair" I call out but she just shushes me.

Zed then comes over to me and kneels "Harper, will you make me the luckiest zombie and be my date to prawn?" I look at him sincerely before answering "no" "great- no?!?" "everyone's freaking out about werewolves which means the anti-monster laws are back and-" "Zombies can't go to prawn" he continues sadly "wait so that's the only reason you said no?" "yeah of course, why are you smiling?" "Because when you said no I thought you didn't like me anymore, but the only problem here is a bunch of blood-thirsty werewolves, we can so fix that" he exclaimed excitedly and I laugh "once we fix this, I will gladly be your date to prawn," I say giving him a kiss on the cheek before my parents call me over.

That night I was talking with my sister, "why did she have to do that, this is so not fair, zombies can't go to prawn now which means I can't go with Zed" I tell her while I lie on my bed "I'm sure it'll be fine Harp, we'll figure it out together alright, I swear as your loving twin you two will be there together" she says determined and I smile to her, "thanks Addi, what would I do without you".
