Chapter 21

The next day was the day of Zed's interview for mountain college, basically, half the town had come to cheer him on and I had met him at his house, but before I left I had put a hood on to cover my hair the best I could but also tried to make my outfit slightly professional. "I believe in you, you're exceptional and I know you can do it" "I can do it," he says before he puts an arm around me and we walk to meet up with the interviewer. "Why don't you join us to start, I understand you've already been accepted," the interviewer asks me and I look over to Zed who nods and leads me inside with them.

While they were talking I put my hand on Zeds shoulder and somehow zapped him "must've rubbed my foot on the carpet?", a while later something happened again and he left to go to the bathroom, his dad whispered to me that he actually went to the kitchen and I quickly followed him. "What happened?" "I don't know, I just lost control" I went to put a comforting hand on him and it happened again "it's coming from me?!" "not now I've gotta focus" I accidentally zapped him again sending him across the room "I'm so sorry, oh my god, go, I don't wanna hurt you" "wait, this must be your alien powers" "holy shit that's so cool," I say and we go to hold each other's hand instinctively but I zap him again "dammit, Zed get out of here, I can't control it," I say but he gets zapped for the 5th time and he flies through the door in zombie mode scaring the interviewer off, I grab a pair of gloves before rushing to the other room "I'm so sorry" "don't worry about it" and he runs after her with me following behind. "Wait, please" he calls out to her and she does, he turns to look at me and I nod, "I know I may be different, who that's exceptional isn't, we have a spark that could change things, it, not a curse it's amazing I'm exceptional Zed, and so are all my family and friends, we're artists, athletes, and activists who always give it our best, we don't need to pretend, cause we won't ever fit in and we're not just awesome in spite of that we take pride in that instead, we're all exceptional" "we'll take that into consideration," the interviewer says smiling before turning around and leaving.
