Chapter 16

The next morning I still had the whole werewolf look going on but died it down a lot. I mean sure it looked cool but it was definitely not for me. Addison on the other hand loved it, I'm really glad she's figuring out who she is, although it made breakfast really awkward.

"New look?" mum asked her "I like it, my new friends like it, and so does Harper" I froze and looked up feeling my parent's gaze, "it's cool," I said shrugging "did you.. join a rock band?" dad asked her unsurely and Addison just looked at him weirdly.

Walking into school that day, everyone's eyes were on Addison. "Everyones loves your new look, I can hear them talking about you" I whisper to her and she smiles at me. Our mood is slowly stopped when the Aceys approach us. "Whoa, bad hair day? Bad hair life" they say, "I think it looks great" Addison replies defensively "yeah not so much" they click "oh come on Aceys you know it looks cool, stop being so jealous," I say to them and they roll their eyes at me "Addison if you ever expect to be cheer captain-" "well maybe I don't, maybe cheer team isn't for me after all" she interrupts and the Aceys walk away gasping. "That was a joke right? You were joking?" I ask, staring wide-eyed "hmm yeah totally," she says and walks away leaving me behind.

"Hey Harper, what's wrong?" Zed says as he comes up to me "it's Addison, I don't know what happened but it was the weirdest thing" "do you want me to talk to her?" he asks and I look up at him "no that's alright" "are you sure? You know I would do anything for you" "I know, and I love that, but she's my sister, I'll sort everything out" I say kissing his cheek. "Meet me at the debate?" he asks "yeah definitely, I can't wait to see you win," I say smiling and he walks away.

The debate was incredible, Zed definitely has this in the bag and I am so proud of him. Everything was going well until his Z-band glitched out or something and he went all zombie mode. Everyone started screaming and running around everywhere, "Zed!" I called out to him, trying to squeeze past everyone to get to him. "Zed the necklace, remove it," I heard Eliza say to him. Necklace? He listens to her and soon he's back to normal but everyone is scared. We make eye contact for a split second but I lose him as he runs off with Eliza following after him. I go to follow, but Bucky holds me back "Bucky let go, I need to see him," I say "Harper, he needs time, he just lost the debate" "no, this is your fault" "hey, no it's not. He just showed everyone who he really is" "that's not who he is, I know who he is," I say ripping my arm from his grasp and I run off to find my boyfriend.

I finally catch up to him and I get there just as Eliza was leaving, "Zed?" I say softly as I reach him. "Hey," he says sadly, not looking at me, "are you alright? What happened in there?" "I lost the election, that's what happened" "yeah but how? I mean you were winning" he sighs and opens his hand to me "Addison's necklace?" "I don't know why I took it, I wasn't thinking and now I've ruined everything" "how did you-" "I went to talk to her, I know you told me not to but you were really worried and I'm sorry, I'm really sorry," he says, voice breaking. "Oh Zed," I say placing my hand on his cheek, and he leans into my touch "it's alright, okay? You didn't ruin anything I promise" "Harper, I promised you we'd go to prawn, and now I've lost our chances of getting there, not to mention I ruined zombie's chances at everything" "hey, we'll work through this together, now how about we start by returning the necklace to Addison, and I don't care about prawn, I care about you." I say and he holds onto me like his life depended on it. We stay like that for a while before he takes a deep breath and we leave to find my sister.

While walking around to find her the Z-alarm goes off, "the Z-alarm? we gotta find her, now" I say and we pick up our pace. We ended up finding her at Seabrook power with everyone else, and we helped them stop the adults from blowing up the place. "You've gotta stop the demolition dad, I know how hard you worked to get this job but if it's gonna hurt the werewolves you've gotta stop it," Zed says to his father and I walk over to mine, "even if we just delay it until they get their moonstone?" "he's right, you both are. Stop the demolition, tomorrow when it's safe we'll find what you're looking for but for now, you can go home" Zed's dad calls out, and everyone cheers.

"Addison!" I call out to her and she turns around "yeah?" I pull her necklace out from my pocket and hand it to her "you found my necklace! Thank you" she says smiling as she hugs me "um about that, please don't be mad but Zed kinda stole it off you" "what" "I know, was shocked too" "I'm really sorry Addison, I didn't know what I was thinking" "I thought I lost it... I questioned myself" "Addison I'm sorry, Harper-" my sister then turns to me "you were in on this? I finally found where I belong and you tried to steal that from me!" "what no I would never, you're my sister. And I had no idea! I only found out after he lost the election because of it" "it serves you right. You don't deserve to go to the prawn after this" she shouts at me and I take a step back. She's never spoken to me like that before, ever. Zed tries to take my hand to comfort me but I shake it off and leave.
