Gwen sat in her cot, repetively checking her phone. This time, it was a video of Hawk kicking down a Bonsai on top of a treated log. She rolled her eyes and scoffed.

She placed her phone down, angrily. She threw her head back onto the pillow and whined. "Hey, what's wrong?" The nurse asked. "Can I turn on the TV for you or get you another pillow?"

"What if my surgery didn't work? What if I'll never walk again? I'll have to be in a wheelchair the rest of my life. Just like how it was when I had cancer. Strapped to a chair so my IV could process through my system."

"Sweetie, you can't think like that," the nurse persuaded. "I'll know what'll make you feel better though. A biig piece of chocolate cake. How's that sound?"

"Fine. Thank you," Gwen said as the nurse left.

Yet again, she checked her phone.

Gwen strained to grab her phone, which was just out of reach. She just wanted to slap her legs and pray that she would feel a small sting. "Dammit!" She whispered to herself.

"Mig, I wish you were here!"

"Hey kid," a voice said from beside her.

"Johnny," she mumbled. "What're you doing here?" She asked.

"Want the phone," Johnny asked.

"Yes," she answered, relieved. Johnny slowly walked over, only to push it farther, towards the wall. She scoffed. "I should've known."

"Go get it," Johnny demanded. "I can't even feel my legs. I can't walk. Even with that goddamn surgery everyone wanted me to ge-"

"QUIET!!"

Gwen jumped a bit and her eyes grew wide. "'Never', 'Can't,' those are just words. They're meaningless. Time to get out of your lazy bed and do something," he told her. "You're not a kid anymore. The world won't hand shit to you. You want something you'd have to crawl across the floor, use your damn teeth if you have to! You'll do whatever it takes. Because you," he said, pointing to her.

"Are the strongest girl I know. You deserve the world but for that, you need to work even harder," he explained.

"I'll be right here next to you. Whether it's Miguel, or you. Cause I'll always be your teacher. I'll always be your Sensei. Now,"

"Go grab it."

"Yes, Sensei," Gwen accounted.

Gwen slowly sat up and began placing her hands onto the rim of the bed. With her left hand, she began to reach for it. "Come on," she said, shaking. She took a deep breath and went a bit farther.

"Come on! OK... Come o-"

To make things short, she fell. When her fingers with 3 inches away. "Oh, shit," Johnny said. "It's all right. You fell like a champ."
