When Seren joined them all at the table for a late breakfast, Cassian looked at her and laughed, "Moving to the Spring Court are you?"
"Just because my skirt has flowers on it doesn't mean I'm going to jump Courts all of a sudden," Seren said as she rolled her eyes.
"Well I think Seren looks very cute," Mor interjected, "Doesn't she, Rhys?"
Rhys shot his cousin a glare but looked back at Seren, "Yes, very cute."
Amren snorted, "Never thought I would hear the word 'cute' come out of Rhys's mouth but here we are."
Laughing, Seren grabbed a pastry and bit into it. "Yes, yes, Seren is very cute," Azriel said.
Rhys shot him a look but Az continued, "But, can we address these attacks on the Temples? I mean two attacks in three months on Temples can't be a coincidence. They must be searching for something. But what?"
Amren and Seren shared a look before Amren spoke up, "A long time ago when Seren and I stole the Cauldron back, we figured out that there was a way to dismantle some of the power from the Cauldron without destroying it. If the feet of it were taken apart, the Cauldron would lose some of that dangerous power. Before the Illryians threw us in the Cauldron, we told the Valkyries about this. They discussed sending the feet to different Temples for safeguarding and after many years, everyone would forget about where the feet were being guarded."
"But if I had to guess, Hybern has figured out where those three feet were hidden. I think that they are trying to reassemble the Cauldron. The power that they would possess with the Cauldron is immeasurable. They would be practically unstoppable," Seren added.
Silence followed before Amren followed up, "But we don't know for a fact that is what they are after. It could just be a coincidence. I mean, we don't even know the Temples the feet were hidden at since we were locked in the Prison."
"I mean," Mor started, "That would make sense. But let's hope they don't already have the Cauldron in their possession. That would create a lot of problems for us if they decided to wage war on Prythian."
Before anyone else could respond, pain shot through Seren's hand. The hand that held a matching tattoo to Feyre. Sucking in a deep breath, Seren dropped her coffee mug. The mug fell to the floor and shattered, splattering coffee everywhere. Seren couldn't think though. She could only focus on the pain coursing through her hand. Rhys was instantly beside her, "Seren what's wrong?"
Through gritted teeth, Seren managed to say, "My hand. The one with the tattoo. It hurts. I think Feyre might need help."
As Seren stood, Rhys said, "Fine, let's go. If anyone asks we can always just say that we are there to claim her for her week. I mean, we did give her three months off already."
Taking her hand, Rhys winnowed them to the garden outside Tamlin's manor. With a loud crack, which sounded like thunder, they appeared in the garden. Seren rolled her eyes, he didn't have to make them appear so loudly. She had witnessed multiple times where he was completely silent when he winnowed. She was about to turn around and scold him when she took in their surroundings.
They were standing on an aisle. Fae around them were screaming and running but Seren didn't pay any attention to them. Instead, her gaze zeroed in at the end of the aisle where Feyre stood with Tamlin. In an ugly ass wedding dress. What the fuck, she thought, we gave them three months and they are already getting married.
But, Seren hid all of her surprise and merely said, "Apologies Feyre. Our invitation must have been lost in the mail. If I had known it was your wedding, I wouldn't have worn white."
"What the fuck are you doing here Seren?" Tamlin practically yelled at her.
She felt Rhys tense beside her but before he could say anything, she smirked, "Chill out kitty cat. I'm only here to collect Feyre for her monthly bargain. I gave her a slight break because I was busy locking innocent fae up in dungeons and torturing them but now I have a slight break in my schedule."
Tamlin made to advance closer to her but Lucien reached out and grabbed his arm, "Feyre can't break her bargain. You know what happens if you break a fae bargain."
Shaking, Tamlin growled at Seren. She only smiled back at him. "Fine," he spat, "But if you bring her back and she is injured in any way, there will be hell from me."
"Come here Feyre," Seren replied.
Slowly and cautiously, Feyre approached Seren. Seren took Feyre's arm, "See you boys in a week."
And with that, she winnowed them all back to the Night Court.
