Rain swam through ink to greet his adversaries, popping up a little distance away and showing no sign of fear whatsoever. He didn't check to see if the rest of the crew had followed, but he didn't care. He could take them on by himself, he'd faced bigger challenges. He shot towards the tall one, the one with the bluish tinted fins. He raised his gun-like weapon and shot back, alarmed.

The group stepped back in shock, beginning to shoot at Rain as an attempt to stop him. They missed mostly, a few splatters hitting Rain as he battled. Four on one was not something he usually handled, at least in turf matches of course. He hadn't realized how the odds were pretty stacked against him, but he didn't care. Every nerve in his body felt alive. He was full of battle hungry fire, alight with excitement.

His opponent jumped into the water behind him, and the other three salmonlings rushed to fight Rain. He turned around to fight back, seeing his crew come to his aid and begin attacking the salmonlings. Axel nearly got one of them with the E-liter, but they darted back and away, shoving Bigfin over suddenly. Bigfin had the splattershot, and hit the attacking salmonling in the face, scrambling to their feet again.

They were winning, of course they were. The salmonlings seemed to recognize that, and rushed back into the water. Rain had the biggest smile.

They had successfully driven them back into the sea! Rain felt proud of himself, even if they had no golden eggs to show for their victory. He let his guard down and turned away from the water, "Did they really think they were going to win there?" He said with a chuckle.

Suddenly, a splash of violet ink hit the back of his head, and he stumbled forward. He turned around to see that the group of salmonlings had returned, their ink color changed to completely match the crew's deep purple.

They weren't playing by any rules, Rain realized. This wasn't an overseen turf war match with regulations. He took a moment to recover from the blast, darting forward to escape any other shots. His crew began to fight them again, although it was very difficult to tell who was on who's side in the fray. Purple ink flew, and he watched his crew repeatedly get stuck in the salmonling's sticky ink. The salmonlings didn't seem to have any problem navigating the violet battlefield, as if they could smell which ink was theirs or their enemy's.

Rain ran back into battle, throwing a bomb to make the salmonlings scramble backwards to put distance between the two groups. Bigfin used their remaining special, a splashdown, and frightened the hostile fish away momentarily. Rain advanced again, but was met by the small salmonling, the one with the orange head crest and patch pants. She was surprisingly bold, and didn't seem to care if Rain shot her in the face. This alarmed him, he swam through ink backwards to try and escape her. He got up as he reached the wall of the main area of the spawning grounds, where the tide usually met the land.

She smirked, thinking she had him cornered. Rain thought quickly, and dodge rolled to the left to continue fleeing. He got onto the main structure, popping up to see his crewmates get splatted one by one. The salmonlings would retreat into the water and return full force if they were hit or cornered. His crew kept getting stuck in the confusing violet battlefield, and it seemed that no matter what they did, they were ultimately beaten and splatted. He saw their O-rings get surrounded.

He had to beat them, he had to save his crew. He used his final special, his other stingray, trying to splat the salmonlings and reach his crew from afar. The salmonlings let out a collective yell of alarm and fled from the beam.

Rain was quickly interrupted, getting knocked over by the small salmonling that had been pursuing him, "Give up." She hissed, "You can't beat us." She growled.
