Did he hear correctly?
As Nico walked away, Percy was so confused that even Annabeth couldn't get his attention.
Him? Really? He thought it would have been Annabeth, but, no. Nico had made it clear that he loved Percy but he didn't anymore because he is 'not his type'.
As he stood there, awestruck, he realised that Annabeth was waving her hand in front of his face.

"Percy? Hello? Are you ok?" She was saying to him.

He said something really smart like "Uuuuuuuhhhhh?"

"Are you ok? You paled and I thought you were going to faint."

"Oh... Uh, I'm fine?"

" Seaweed brain... To do something like that, you've got to have some guts." She said

"Yeah... It was just... Surprising I guess..."

"Anyway, as I was saying before Nico came over, How would you like to settle down in New Rome and go to college after high school?" She asked

How was she staying calm? A guy just said to Percy that he likes him? Well, I guess it doesn't make a difference since he doesn't like me anymore. Besides, there is nothing wrong with being gay... Percy thought but he still doesn't think He will look at him the same way ever again.

"Yeah, I'm excited!" He replies.

Just then, the conch horn sounded.

"Well, it's dinner time. It's our first meal back at camp..." She didn't smile.

Instead, a look of despair crossed her face, like she was remembering why they were gone for so long. Searching for him, blowing up the roman camp, following the mark of Athena, falling into Tartarus... And the war.
He instinctively put an arm around her.

"Come on" Percy steered her towards the pavilion.
