I twisted and turned as the images burned their way through my mind.

Every time I close my eyes it is all I see.

A bloody figure stands, screaming.

He has a sword.

As the ugly bat-hag things attack, he slashes and stabs and he screams his brains out.

Every monster he kills only brings more pain.

As the last monster spontaneously combusts into a shower of gold dust, the screaming stops.

He falls to the mushy ground, his sword clattering out of his hand.

No one helps.

Probably because no one is there to help.

He lies, limp and all alone.

Well, at least that's what he thought.

The giant man stands in black iron boots - each as big as a coffin. His flesh was thick and purple muscle, like the ground he was standing on. His armoured skirt looked as though it was made of black bone chain mail and his breastplate appeared to have dozens of murky faces of Cyclopses, Gorgons, Giants and Drakons pressing agains the armour as if trying to escape. His hands were as large as crane scoops, but the worst of all was his head. A twisted rock helmet with no particular shape encased his whirlpool face - his face was an inward vortex of darkness. It acted as a vacuum, sucking up the existence of his victim - kind of like the ghost-type things in Harry Potter.

The giant man made a sound like the earth splitting apart.
I assumed it was a laugh.

He picked up the boy laying on the ground and I caught a glimpse of his eyes before his soul was devoured by the giant man.

His eyes had bags under them. He looked utterly tired - not of exhaustion, but of all the completely unbelievable nonsense that has happened. I saw in his eyes that he was done. He didn't care that he was about to die. It was all just too much. Nevertheless, his eyes were as beautiful as always.

I was forced to watch as Tartarus sucked the life out of Percy Jackson.

----------------

I awoke in a cold sweat.
The red numbers on my digital clock displayed 3:14am.
I was shivering like crazy.

This was all too much.

I couldn't deal with this.

I broke down right there and then.
I collapsed into myself and bawled my eyes out.
No one was here to support me.

But that's how it has always been, and that how it will always be.
