SURPRISE UPDATE!!

I don't know when I'm going to be able to update this book again (because of school) but it probably won't be until the weekend, so please enjoy this chapter in the meantime.

The next morning, extremely early, Sara had called us onto the bridge. Only Mick, Amaya, Nate, Leo, and I had shown up when Sara entered with a blonde man wearing a trenchcoat and a loose tie.

"Blimey." The blonde man said upon seeing us. "Whoo, this is one hell of a jam jar you got in here."

"I thought we gave the Englishman to the time pigs." Mick grunted unenthusiastically, as per-use.

"That was Rip. This is John Constantine."

"Skinny Brit in a trenchcoat. Same thing." He wasn't necessarily wrong.

"Oh, doubtful, mate." Constantine disagreed. "You see, I'm an accomplished warlock, an expert of the occult, and a master of exorcism." He looked at Leo intently. "I'm also a Taurus, for those of you taking note." He turned around, his eyes landing on Amaya's totem. "The Anansi Totem. That belongs to-" I cut him off before he could say anything else.

"Her granddaughter. Same totem, different Vixen. She's from 1942. You were saying about the warlock thing?"

"Accomplished, warlock, love." He snarkily corrected me before looking back at Amaya. "Well, I am charmed to know another who bears the family name." He extended his hand to her, Amaya taking no second thought in accepting the gesture.

"It's an honor."

He reset his sights on Leo. "So, what's your story then, handsome?"

"I'm from another Earth, and I'm spoken for."

"Yeah, his girlfriend's a guy." Mick moved on quickly as we just looked at him weirdly. "Anyway, this is too much for me. I'm gonna watch TV."

Mental institutions freaked me the hell out. Not because I was in one or anything like that, simply because I watched one too many horror movies growing up. Nonetheless, I pushed the creepy thoughts lingering in my head to the back and focused on our mission. Four of us on one body was overkill if you asked me, especially for an undercover mission. No one said anything as we pushed John's "unconscious" body down a corridor on a stretcher, though.

"All right, we've landed. Where did they move her?" Sara asked Zari, Ray, and Nate on comms.

"Can't find anyone named Emily on the admissions record." Zari told us.

"Guys, be careful." Ray warned. "You're in an asylum with a demon."

"It's a twofer of terror." Nate added onto his friend's statement.

From the other end of the hallway, we saw a girl, no older than 14 or 15 being pushed on a gurney.

"That's her." John muttered, keeping his voice low so that nobody would suspect anything.

"Oh, there she is." Sara went towards the girl's gurney, the rest of us just staying put. "Thank you, I can take it from here. I mean, her from here."

"I'm sorry, who are you?"

"I'm Doctor..." Sara couldn't come up with an alias, instead looking back at us. "Yeah, I'm not doing this." She turned back and knocked the two men out easily.

"Ah, nice one, love." John complimented her, Amaya, Leo, and I following directly behind him.

"I'll make sure no one else gets in our way." Sara told us. "Find a place for her, and we'll rendezvous."
