—¿Remind me again why you're here? Last time I checked you hate sport events—Said Britney confused, as both girls sat down on the bleachers watching the basketball players get ready on the court.
—Someone is taking me out after— responded Gigi with a smile looking at the boys who were warming up.—¿Jc is taking you out?—asked Britney confused more than ever.
—No Brit—she rolled her eyes—I'm talking about Brian, number 4—
—¡¿Brian?! Since when?—she looked at her surprised.—¿Does Jc know about it?—
—Yeah he saw us talking yesterday during practice. it's not like I have to tell Jc everything about my life especially about my love life—
—True, But, I wouldn't know Justin is my best friend and Boyfriend.—she smiled proudly, she loved that boy deeply.
The game had started and you can tell there was tension during the game. It wasn't with the rival team but within the players. The times where Brian was open, Jc wouldn't pass the ball. It wasn't like he needed to, every point went it but it wasn't fair for the others especially Brian who wanted to score.
Brian was getting frustrated by it. He wanted to prove to Giovanna he was a good player, he wanted to impress her with his skills.
—¿Why is Brian being benched?—asked Gigi, looking at Brian who was clearly upset about it. He noticed Gigi from far, he felt embarrassed. Asking a girl to come to his game just to see him not play. After telling her he was a starting player.
The game continued, Jc seemed to be doing his own thing. He kept the score up high along with Justin who was the second hand of the team. On the last score Justin passed the ball to Jc who managed to score the last point. He yelled from excitement and ran to the bleachers hugging Gigi who was sitting on the second row.
—Good job Jc, I'm proud of you—she said, he thanked her and walked back to the court to his teammates.
Brian got up from the bench and walked down the court going into the locker room. From far you can see his sadness. Gigi approached to him before he went inside.
—Gigi I'm deeply sorry you came to see nothing— he looked down trying to avoid her eye contact.
—You did really great, It just wasn't your game so there shouldn't be shame in it. I think you did really good no matter what— she smiled to him.
—Thanks Gigi—he looked up, the sadness in his eyes had left, a glow in them appeared. —Let me get my stuff so we can get going. Start thinking the place you want to go eat, I'm paying— he said
—Yeah sure, I'll wait for you here— he nodded and went inside the locker room to get his stuff to get going.
From far Jc saw everything, jealousy was what he felt. He tried so hard to impress Gigi, for her to focus on him and not on someone who didn't even play. Why couldn't she see that he was better? But then he remembered, Gigi wasn't like those girls. She didn't care about money, luxury, or the attention of someone. She had actual interest, if she liked someone it was for a special reason, and a deep one.
¿So what did Brian have that he didn't? ¿How did he catch her attention so quick? ¿What was the special thing? ¿Why didn't he have it?
It felt like all his work in that court didn't do any great for him. He was the shadow of Brian when he was the star of the game. The only game he wanted to win, was Gigi's heart and it looked like he was loosing at it.
—¿Want me to take you home?—asked Jc walking up to her— Oh no, thank you. Brian is going to. You should go home and rest. You did a lot at tonight's game.—
