"Party Guessed (Part 2) "Now Aspen was never a party person by any means. There was never a reason for a big celebration when her only friends were Stiles and Scott. And Grandpa Sam, of course. It was always a cake of Aspen's choosing, homemade creamsicle popsicles, and then a movie. The boys absolutely swore that they hated when she chose a Disney movie. Then Aspen would complain that she had to be the one to get the tissue when Scott was crying over Scar's not-so-surprising betrayal. Stiles would just make an unwelcome commentary on every scene.
"Bugs can't even talk, it's not realistic."
"It's a cartoon, Stiles."
Now Aspen was adjusting every part of her dress as she made her way up the driveway of Lydia's house. She ran her fingers through her tresses, that waves now loose. The crisp night air was a relief to the long sleeves, but she was still grateful for Lydia on this backup dress. She really didn't want to give it back, honestly.
She felt the loud music pumping through the expensive house as soon as she stepped inside. Students from school were flocking the foyer and hallways and stairs. Some she recognized from the club and questioned why they were there. There was a sea of dresses, elaborate hair, and red solo cups that met Aspen's gaze as she pushed through the crowd. She knew she was running a bit late but she didn't expect the party to swell so quickly. When she got outside, she huffed thankfully that she had space to slowly browse over faces to find someone she knew. 'Bad Romance' played over the speakers dotted around the backyard. Aspen walked along the pool, some water sprinkling her ankles as people jumped in.
"Aspen, Jesus Christ."
Aspen looked to her right to see Stiles and Scott standing under the cement gazebo that wrapped around the backyard.
Scott's grin was deciding where to pull more from as he looked over Aspen with a chuckle. "You look great!" he said, gesturing his hand toward her.
"Who did you steal that from?" Stiles said, still curiously looking over Aspen's face more than her dress.
Aspen raised a brow at him and toyed with her sleeve. "The guest of honor bought it. Honestly, I wasn't planning on getting all dressed up."
Scott was still beaming, making Aspen blush. "I think it's beautiful! Really you look awesome--"
"Okay, enough with the complementary adjectives. She's not gonna ditch us now that she's realized how pretty she is." Stiles said exasperatedly and placed his hands on his hips.
Aspen turned her head slightly with a sly smile and squinted her eyes at Stiles.
He caught her gaze and looked away. "Stop looking at men like that, June."
"You called me pretty."
"Yeah, one-time thing, get over it," Stiles murmured, pinching his nose quickly with a sniff. Scott and Aspen shared teasing eyes before looking to Stiles again. "On a more detrimental note, why was my account charged 150?"
