"Fury"
Aspen shouldn't have been driving.
The road ahead was shrinking, like she was in a dark tunnel and the destination seemed infinite. Never to be touched.
She rubbed her eyes, her mascara smudging--
She ran a red light. Again.
She couldn't formulate what was real. The leather of her wheal was there. Her heart was still in her chest so that was a sign. She saw her dead mother. And Mina. And Charlie. And herself. The Veata Moon.
It was so close Aspen could feel it. her power wasn't her own anymore and she's never been more terrified.
What was in that drink?
She's felt off since she left the party and she can't quite blame the drink anymore. Scott seemed fine. So what the hell was wrong with her?
She was going over the speed limit. She let her foot touch the brakes slightly, but felt her leg shaking. Dammit.
Aspen thought she was still under the influence of the drink when she saw Matt and the Kanima together. That was real. She wishes it wasn't. Because that means Matt has been directing the murders. He's been forcing Jackson to become a homicidal lizard.
Whywhywhywhy...
"Aspen, sweetheart, 'ya with me?"
Aspen breathed so quickly she could have choked. She had forgotten she was on the phone with Stiles on speaker. Stiles had updated his dad on Matt once he left the party with Scott. Aspen would have tagged along if it wasn't for Deaton calling her to come to the old Hale House quickly. It sounded urgent and Aspen was still in shock's grasp when she had said yes. Now she was questioning why she was meeting with the town's veterinarian in an abandoned house in the woods at midnight. Her lack of a guardian was showing. She told the boys where she was going and Scott insisted he join, but Deaton said to come alone.
Noah Stilinski said her name again, tone rising in concern for her lack of response.
"Yeah, hey, sorry. I'm here--bad connection." she rambled out as she turned off of the main road, clicking on her high beams. The forest scoured before her.
"You kids can't really believe this kid's the killer. Matthew Daehier?" Noah was skeptical which was valid in the respect that he didn't know anything about the supernatural.
"Yeah," Stiles said confidently.
"No."
Aspen didn't have to see Stiles' face to know he was probably baffled by his dad's curt response. Probably more frustrated that he couldn't give him the valid evidence unless they wanted to expose big bad wolves and lizards to the sheriff. And that was a big no.
