The sky was darkening when Aspen made it to the cemetery as scheduled. The Isaac tried canceling tutoring for that night because of the work his father had piled up for him for skipping out those nights when Isaac visited Aspen in the hospital. But Aspen didn't take no for an answer. Instead, she drove to the cemetery and joined him while he worked.

"À quelle heure?"

There was a silence filled only with the sound of the machinery in the Loader scooping yet another pile of dirt. Aspen was squeezed next to Isaac on the single seat in the Loader with her french notebook hiding her face so the boy wouldn't see the questions she was asking. The cold breeze blew some hair into Aspen's face, which she idly brushed away, awaiting Isaac's answer.

"It's 9 P.M." Isaac answered, pulling on the joystick to release dirt into a hole.

Aspen peeked over the top of the notebook. "Tu es censé répondre en français," Aspen whispered as if someone was listening to her trying to help.

Isaac glanced toward Aspen as he continued working the controls for the Loader, "Uh, what did you just say?"

"Tu...es...censé...répondre...en...français."

Isaac pondered for a moment as he inaudibly repeated her words before slightly nodding, "Oh yea um Il est neuf heures du...soir?" he looked to Aspen, his slips parted, hoping his pronunciation was correct.

Aspen only stared at him before a smile married her features. "Très bien." she laughed, closing her notebook as that was the last question for the night. "I'm not gonna lie, you're making a lot of improvement."

"Yeah, so are you."

Aspen tilted her head, "What do you mean?"

"Well, you were slacking at your tutoring skill for the first couple of lessons." Isaac fended off a smile, noticing Aspen gaping toward him.

"I'll have you know, I can make you pay me right now." she snipped, failing to feign a serious tone.

"But, you won't."

"Don't get too comfortable, Lahey."

After the days that passed since Isaac sleeping in her room, they have yet to bring up the topic about his father's abuse toward him. The subject was stitched to the back of her mind, afraid bringing it up would be too delicate for him. She didn't want him to feel like she saw him as a victim but as a friend willing to stay by his side until the issue eventually subsided. But from the way Isaac looked sneaking through her window, she had a feeling it was far from over.

"So did you take Derek's advice? Cracking the marble, I mean."

Aspen was quick to bring Isaac up to speed with all the werewolf drama. Specifically, about last night and the powerful wind she shot toward Scott. Her description of the situation may not have been clear, but Isaac enjoyed Aspen's slow-motion example as she did her best to help him visualize the scene.
