Aspen Juniper Veata has only ever known Beacon Hills to be a quiet and dainty town. Herself, along with her best friends Scott McCall and Stiles Stilinski, had gone unnoticed by their peers in high school for as long as they could remember. Aspen ha...

Relief is a funny thing. It's reassuring. It gives the mind a sense of ease so that it has a better understanding of things. And now Aspen understood everything. After her grandfather had opened up about her father and the history of her family, she never felt closer to Grandpa Sam and Beckham. She wished to know more about her mother, Julia, but he said she steered clear of her husband's side of the family, knowing she could get caught up in the Elementalist drama. Despite not ever really knowing her father, she knew the love Beckham had for her and the expectations he hoped for her to achieve. Both Beckham and Julia knew about her power and decided the best thing to do was keep her dormant until she was ready. But since the Alpha made his grand appearance, Grandpa Sam had to begin preparing Aspen sooner than expected. Her grandfather mentioned he would start helping her through the process of learning control, and Aspen didn't sleep a wink with all the excitement racking her brain.
The day went by quickly, the only thing in Aspen's mind being her family lineage and what she was capable of. She didn't wait to pull Isaac aside and fill him in on everything she discovered, and he was proud to know his Druid research came of use. She wanted nothing more than to tell Scott and Stiles, but things seemed to be heating up with the Alpha that her news did not seem of the importance at the moment.
The gym door nearly being slammed open made Danny's eyes abandon his laptop screen from where he sat on the bleachers and peer up to see who rushed through the door. With Aspen's heart rate already escalating by the second, her shoes slapped against the ground as she made her way toward Danny, her hands full with an open folder that Lydia provided with sketches of design decorations. She rummaged through papers while balancing her phone between her ear and shoulder as Scott was shouting through the line, babbling about how they were close to finding out who the Alpha was. It was not even five in the afternoon yet, and already, Aspen Veata looked beyond frustrated.
With amusement in his eye, Danny sat back against the seat behind him and watched as Aspen whispered into her phone with anger lacing her tone. Finally, ending the call, she let out a groan and shoved the phone in her back pocket before noticing Danny's gaze watching her.
Aspen blushed slightly and let out a breathy laugh, "Sorry about that, she said, setting her binder on the bleachers, "Scott and Lydia have been up my ass all day for two completely different reasons."
"Tell me about it," Danny laughed, leading his focus back on his laptop. Aspen took a moment to realize that Danny was here way after his lacrosse practice and curiosity sparked as she took a seat next to the boy.
"Lydia's got you stuck here too?"
Danny let out an exasperated sigh as he nodded, "She said it would count as community hours, and I'm short because of lacrosse."
