Under cover American spy Jake Manifold gently touched mercenary assassin Shannon McGuire's jaw. "When he threw into that crevice, you scraped your face."
Shannon's eyes were ice. "I know – I'll kill Riley Dawson."
Jake reached under the table in the deserted house and switched off the bug. "Was Emily down in that crevice?"
"I didn't see her," Shannon replied. "But there was a deeper crevice nearby."
Jake frowned. "She's probably dead." He sighed, looking away, deeply hurt. His jaw shook. Finally he spoke. "They still think I'm Vladimir Chang. I can't hold this up forever... I nearly died this afternoon from vodka poisoning."
Shannon smiled. "I think they know. They're just waiting to see how you work. The KBG will do anything for information." She grabbed the gun from Jake's belt. "You won't have to keep up your cover. Turn on the bug."
Jake flipped it on. "Miss Jones, I know you're upset."
Shannon hit him in the stomach. Jake made the proper 'oof'-ing noise. Then she slammed him with a punch. Jake fell backwards, making a chair crash for effects.
"CHANG – LEAVE ME ALONE!"
Jake got to his feet. "No. You don't understand me, Miss Jones." He stepped toward her and jumped her.
Shannon screamed. Jake winked at her, as she rolled on the floor and he pummeled his hand.
BANG! BANG!
Two shots fired into the ceiling.
Jake slipped over and switched off the bug. Shannon gave him back the revolver and Jake brought her the rifle.
Shannon took the gun awed. "You're the most considerate man -"
Jake shook his head. "I'm only trying to make up for Emily."
"Close your eyes." Shannon leaned close to him. "Emily was probably a much more muscled person than I am -"
Jake wrapped his arms around Shannon.
Something hit his belt buckle!
Jake shoved Shannon away, snatching the knife from her hand.
WHAM! Click. Click. Click. Click. KBG agents covered every exit, their machine guns ready for action.
Jake spun Shannon around the knife blade at her throat. "I'll kill her!" he snarled.
"We do not care, Agent Manifold."
"She's one of you!"
"She is expendable."
Shannon played her last card. "I know where you can get American military information, for bargain prices."
Jake smiled. "See? And she and I will be leaving."
