Before Mac could knock on the door, his ragged spy Jake Manifold pulled him inside the cheap motel room.
"Thank you for coming so soon." The young spy looked exhausted. He'd gone from China to Berlin and been shot multiple times along the way.
"I shouldn't have sent you in wounded like this, but it was the only way." Mac explained "Where's Shannon?"
"The shower."
"Tell her to get out. I need to get you across the wall by noon."
"What about Emily Jones?"
Mac frowned. "You don't need to know about her, Jake. She's out of your life – I don't want you tracking her down. You're not the man for her."
"Riley Dawson?"
"Jake - it doesn't matter."
"Shannon wants to kill him. Maybe Emily too. I have to warn Emily."
"The sooner the better. At least for Dawson." Mac replied. "And Emily can take care of herself. Here."
Jake took the box of chocolates. "For...?"
"Shannon."
"She still means something to you, doesn't she?"
"Shut up, kid. You can't understand."
Indiana Jones burst through the door.
Mac and Jake had their weapons trained on the haggard archaeologist.
"What are you doing here?" Mac growled.
Jake stared. "This is the Dr. Jones you were originally supposed to send?"
Indy straightened his shoulders. "Emily's my daughter."
"How'd he find this place?" Jake cried.
"Same place we used during the Second World War," Indy explained. "You got any whiskey?" He stared at his trembling hands.
Mac handed Indy a flask. "This isn't like you -"
"The safe has a combination, Mac. I need the combination!" Indy swallowed the liquor.
"What safe?" Jake asked.
Indy stared at the kid. "You were sent to finish my mission. There were four pieces of the scroll. Dawson found -"
Shannon stepped into their conversation. "There were four pieces of the scroll. I found them, Dr. Jones, by looking at various old records."
"Why is she here?" Indy growled.
"She's here because the KBG thought she was Emily Jones," Mac explained. "And I let them think that Jake was Vladimir Chang."
"I'm guessing by the bruises on her face and the kid's fists that your plan didn't go well, Mac." Indy looked at Mac, Jake and Shannon. "One of you has to know the combination to the safe. I remember putting the third piece of the scroll in it - but not the combination!"
Mac looked toward Jake and Shannon... then back to Indy. "Indy, you were hit with shrapnel during the bombing... I don't think you ever gave me the combination to the safe in any of the reports."
"Where's the reports? Maybe it'll jog my memory." Indy sounded frantic.
Mac shrugged. "I don't have the reports – your daughter stole them when she went rouge and decided that she was going to take on Communist Berlin single handedly."
"Mac, my daughter was trying to save her sister's life! Don't you have copies?"
"She should have let me handle it."
"Mac what's the combination!?" Indy grabbed Mac by the jacket and shook him. "If you don't give it to me Emily and Marion are gonna die!"
