The Cuddle Pact with Eddie Munson

Luci puts on her headphones and plays the album Rumors by Fleetwood Mac as she walks to her locker. Robin called Luci earlier and said that she wasn't going to school,how she drank too much and felt really sick. Luci opens her locker and a note is sitting in her locker. She opens the folded paper and reads, Meet me today at 4 under the football bleachers.
Luci looks behind the paper to see if there is any more writing. We need to talk. -E.

That's what she's been dreading, the whole 'we need to talk' conversation. Luci really wished that Robin was here. She slams her locker shut and walks to her first period. She really doesn't want to talk to him. She can't anyways, she has work today at 4:15. She mentally does a happy dance, but remembers she has 4 classes with him.

Ugh, Vodka you suck!

She sits in her usual spot, takes out what she needs for class. First period went by so fast as did her second period. Luci is really not wanting to go to third period, in fact the rest of her classes. She has to get Robin's assignments for today. She has to tough it out. By the time lunch comes around,hangs out where she and Robin go; the big tree in the quad. Luci puts on her headphones and listens to her music.
As she was walking to her class, she bumped into no other than Eddie Munson.

Of course! The one person I avoid almost all day, I bump into.

She takes off her headphones, "Sorry," she says.

"It's no problem,'' he said, shoving his hands in his pockets.

"I'll see you in class," she said walking away.

"Wait!" Eddie says.

She turns around as he walks up to her.

"Did you get my note?"

"Yeah, I did but I can't do it today because I have work."

"What time do you work?"

"From 4 to 9."

"You work at Benny's right?"

She nods her head yes.

"I'll see you at 9 then," he said walking away.

Fuck! Dammit!

Luci settles into her class, class drones on forever. Luci starts to doodle on her note paper. She was interrupted by a tap on her back, by Eddie's finger handing her a note. She takes it and reads, should I meet you in the diner or by your Jeep?

You choose.

Eddie keeps it in his binder. The bell rang, signalling that the last class is over. Luci beelines to the doors and walks to her Jeep and drives home with Dustin. She quickly gets dressed in her work clothes and drives to Benny's.

The time she punches in. She takes orders for 6 hours but it actually went by fast. She was really surprised how busy it got there, usually there's a few stragglers in the diner. Dustin and Mike came over and ate some food and rode away on their bikes. Also Max started to hang out with boys again. Luci would see her too, not just at school. It was around 8:30 when she was cleaning up the diner. She always lets Benny go home early so he can spend time with his kids. And he always thanks her.
A bell ringed signaled her that was a customer,
"Sorry we're close," she said, not looking at who it was.

" I was hoping I could get some fries,"
Luci didn't need to look up to see who it was.

Eddie.

"Oh hey, sorry usually when I'm closing there's always some people near closing time."

"Do you actually want fries?"

"No,I was joking."

"Need some help?" Eddie asked.

"Yeah, if you want to?"

He grabbed a rag that was on the table and started to clean it.
As Luci was mopping one side of the diner, she asked,
" What did you want to talk about?"

"Oh, um about Friday night."

"We were both drunk, consenting people who regret it,'' she said, continuing to mop her,trying not think about what he's going to say next.

"I don't regret it," Eddie says looking at her.

Wait what?

"You don't?" she said turning to face him.

"Not one bit."

Red blushed her cheeks, "Oh."

"Do you?"

"No," she said, shaking her head.

"I wanted to ask you something," he said as he was walking over to Luci.

"Sure, what is it?"

"I have Insomnia, I was diagnosed when I was 14."

She nods her head listening, allowing him to continue.

"Well that night when we fell asleep. I actually fell asleep. It was the best sleep I've had."

"You're welcome I guess," she chuckled.

" I'm asking you for a pact,"

"What pact?"

"A cuddle pact?"

"I haven't figured out a name for it. But it will be just sleeping and cuddling."

"Can I think about it?" Luci asks.

"Oh yeah,yeah." He said.

They finished cleaning up the diner, Luci locked up the diner, Luci and Eddie walked out to the parking lot.
Eddie walked her to her Jeep, opened the door for her. Luci thanked him, and went into her car.

"Goodnight Luci," Eddie said.

"Goodnight Eddie," Luci says.

He walks away from her Jeep and they both go home. Luci gives Robin her homework and drives home. Luci walks to her room, flops on her bed thinking about what Eddie said.

But it will be just sleeping and cuddling.
