Cadence Harper
All I can see is white ceilings and white walls. The bed sheets are surprisingly white and the only colorful object that I can see in the room is the vase that sits on the lamp table beside the hospital bed I'm lying at.
I looked at my side and realized the whole place is just a ward. The white walls are the curtains preventing me to see the person behind. Gladly, A nurse came and moved the curtains on the other side.
There I saw an injured Topher resting in the bed. Tubes were connected on his palms and stitches was seen in every corner of his face.
Suddenly, My heart started to throb. Thus can't be right. This might be a dream. I can't be living in this kind of hell. Topher, he's more critical than I am.
I tried to sit up but the nurse didn't allow me. All she said was I have to rest and let myself rest. Of course, I couldn't bring myself to sleep because tears makes me awake.
I still remember the things happened.
"Just keep your eye on the road."
The truck hit the car I am on and suddenly we crashed. The car stumbled and all I can see is shattered glass and broken interior moving in a circular motion. When the car stopped stumbling, I managed to get out.
I crawled myself out and saw Topher still inside. I stood up and limped towards Topher and saw that he is badly hurt.
"Help! Somebody! Help!" I tried to pull Topher out but all I can do is damage his body. I saw a lot of cuts and blood pouring out of his body.
I couldn't take it anymore, Tears filled my eyes and dizziness came over me. After a few seconds, I broke down and my head stumbled on a nearby rock making me unconscious.
"Nurse, How's the patient over there?" I asked the nurse who is currently checking me.
"His body isn't responding to any of our treatments. Luckily, He is still breathing. Though his right arm and shoulder blades were torn off and needed immediate operation. Are you the girlfriend?"
I don't know what to say to that but I have to lie. "Yes, Please tell me if he's okay. Also call my parents and his parents."
She nodded and went out of the curtains. The ward seemed peaceful because all I can hear is my heartbeat. I can't let Topher suffer.
"Doctor, Mr Paxton needs blood." I overheard a conversation behind the curtains. "He's losing too much blood due to the several cuts in his body."
"What's his blood type?"
"Type AB." I'm AB!
"Nurse!" I yelled. I have to give him blood as soon as possible.
"Yes ms. Harper?"
"Nurse, I'm AB. Please let me donate. I'm compatible. I have to give him now. Or else," I wanted to get up but these stupid tubes won't let me "he'll die."
"Okay miss, Calm down. Calm down." The nurse gave a shot of those things they inject to make you asleep.
"Please nurse, Give him my blood."
Before that, I fell asleep.
---
I woke up and saw that I'm in a different ward now. There is no Topher on my side and all I can see is patients that are ready to go home. I saw Mom sleeping on the foot of my bed with her arms folded and her head lying down.
Dad is on the counter talking to the head nurse. I swear I'm scared of what might happen next. I don't know if I should really give my blood to Topher.
