~*~Chapter 5 ~ Leave it ~*~
I groaned, “What do you want, Gray?”
“Well, Jezebeth, it’s great to see you too! However, I’m not here for you.” I glared at him not sure where he was going with this. “Natalie would be who I originally came for.”
Nat spoke from beside me but it was a mere whisper, “Wha-what d-do you want m-me for?”
I placed my hand on her shoulder to calm her a little.
“Yeah, well that’s not happening Gray. She hasn’t done anything. I suggest you leave.”
He ran his pointer finger along the car he was passing making a squeaking sound. “That is a suggestion I’d love to take up but I’m afraid I can’t.”
At this point I took off my sunglasses growing more pissed by the second. “Oh, it looks to me like I struck a nerve, aye Pretty Girl?”
I laughed at that but my temper just continued to rise. “Yeah, you can say that.” I clenched my fists so tight my knuckles cracked. “What happened to new girl, I thought it was the new ones that took care of this stuff?”
“Yeah, well, it turns out she needs training. That’s where Natalie was going to come in and help.”
I scoffed, “That’s low, using a child for your training.”
“That’s low, using those young adults for entertainment.”
“Touché,” Kobal spoke up from behind Gray.
“Oh, will you look at that. The gang’s all here!” Gray voiced pretending to be excited.
“I suggest you leave, Gray. You haven’t got the slightest chance.”
“That I shall Azael, it’s been awhile since we’ve come face to face buddy.” Azael looked humored by Gray’s words but didn’t laugh or crack a smile.
“Yeah, well I’ve been away on business.” The double meaning of his words calmed my temper a little bringing light to the conversation.
Once Gray left I turned to my sister and Natalie. We need to go. Nat, I think I need to talk to your dad, how are you getting home?”
“Ronnie is picking me up.”
“Okay, we will wait till she gets here and I’ll just follow her to your home.” I turned back to my boys and walked up to them. “Thanks guys, I wasn’t sure what was going to go down.”
“I told you to contact me if ANYTHING happened, so thanks for listening. Until you are full blooded you are going to need our help,” Minor spoke for the first time since they got here. I sighed knowing he was right.
“You know, I hate when you guys go all serious. It’s creepy and weird. It most definitely doesn’t suit you.”
They all just chuckled. “We are going to head back to Azael’s. Stop by whenever you are done with your meeting and babysitting.” I stared blankly at Minor for reminding me of my babysitting task.
“I got suspended so I could spend time with you guys, not babysit. She’s thirteen and mom won’t let her be alone for more than five minutes. Okay. I’ll see you guys later. Oh, and Azael?”
He looked up from his crouched position where he was tying his shoe. “Hmm?”
I smiled, “Welcome back from hell.” He cracked a grin.
“Yeah, thanks. It was one hell of a trip.”
We all were laughing but Nat and Kobal were clutching their stomachs. I sobered up when I saw that Mary was confused and kind of left out.
“What are you guys laughing at?” Mary voiced her confusion.
Since I had seen it coming I answered her, “Just a statement made before he left.”
She made an ‘O’ shape with her mouth. Minor came up to me and enveloped me in a hug and kissed me on the forehead. “I’ll see you later, Angel. Bye Mary, Nat.” He did the head nod thing when he said good bye to Mary and Natalie.
Kobal came over and gave me a hug lifting me off the ground and spinning me, “Bye, boo!”
“Put me down Kobal.” He pouted but did as I asked.
They walked over to Azael’s black hummer and hopped in before peeling out of the parking lot.
I left the girls to mingling with those snobs and went back to my bike. The stupid Black Wings were showing their faces more and more lately. I needed to talk to my dad about it tonight. It might just be my overactive imagination but it seems the closer my 18th birthday the more frequent their visits seem to come.
I felt the power in the air grow a little bit stronger causing me to look up from my glaring session with the parking lot. The second I did I saw Ronnie and couldn’t help but smile.
She got out of her car and greeted the group of girls as I made my way over to them. “You know you could at least call sometimes woman.” I spoke to her once I got close enough.
“Last I checked a phone works both ways.” She turned around with a smile on her face equally as large as mine. We both screeched and ran towards each other, enveloping one another in a hug. “Oh my god, it’s been forever!”
“That damn college life is taking you away from me,” I complained to my best girl-friend. “I’m following you to your place; I need to talk to your dad.” She gave me an affirmative nod before turning to Natalie.
“You ready kiddo?” she raised an eyebrow at her sister.
“Actually, Mary and I have a proposition for you two.” We both just tilted our heads to the side giving her the go ahead to continue. “Well, Mary really doesn’t want to get on the bike with Jezebeth but I, however, do. So…”
“You guys wanted to switch places?” Ronnie finished for her sister.
“Yeah,” Mary replied quietly.
“I don’t mind as long as long as Jezzie doesn’t.”
“I absolutely don’t mind!” I exclaimed probably with a little too much excitement. “What? It’s always fun taking someone for their first ride.” Realization crossed Ronnie’s face and Mary just cringed. “Besides, Mary just yells in my ear the entire ride.” Natalie and Ronnie laughed as Mary blushed but didn’t deny it.
The entire ride to the Takes residence Natalie was laughing and enjoying the ride. We’d lost Ronnie about 5 minutes back when I decided to race her. Nat and I hopped off my bike adrenaline still pumping through our veins. Nat started to jump up and down before exclaiming, “OH MY GOD! THAT WAS INCREDIBLY AWESOME!”
“And I think you just blew my eardrums,” I said while rubbing my ears.
She smiled sheepishly at me, “Sorry.”
I laughed and messed up her hair. “It’s all good kiddo, I can understand the excitement. Oh look the slow pokes made it.” I made sure to yell the last part so Ronnie would hear me. When she flipped me off I knew I was successful.
