~*~Chapter 4 ~ Watch Your Temper...~*~
The thing I hate is being woken up, but I hate being woken up by the phone even more. The house phones land line doesn't even have my amazing songs as a ringer. Just some annoying regular tone.
"Hello?" I answered with my voice still full of sleep.
"Jezzie, honey, can you pick your sister up from school today? I have to work late and Jay is out of town."
I groaned, "Mom I love you and I love Mary, but at thirteen I was able to ride the bus why can't she?"
"How about this, if you pick your sister up and spend time with her I will take two days of your grounding?" Mom asked sounding desperate.
"Kelley, bribery is bad." I tsk at her. Even though she couldn't see me I was shaking my head and moving my pointer finger.
"Don't call me by my first name young lady and I'm just a little desperate. I need you to agree and I need to get back to work."
I sighed, "Fine. What time do I have to pick her up, ma?"
"Three o'clock. Please don't be late and make sure you both are wearing helmets. I trust you driving her on that death trap, Jezzie."
"10-4, over and out." I just hung up not waiting for her safety speech. I set an alarm to wake me up at two and went back to sleep.
I was up at one o'clock in a seriously bad mood. Remember when I said a phone call was ahorrible way to wake up? Yeah, well, so is having your face licked all over, not by my dog that was asleep at my side but from my horrible boyfriend. Needless to say we aren't talking to each other as he sits at the counter icing his black eye while I sit in the living room trying to calm my temper.
My temper was finally starting to mellow out, eyes turning back to gold, but Minor and I still haven't uttered a word to each other. We are currently just sitting in the living room staring at one another. I looked over at the time seeing it was now quarter after two.
I pulled myself off the couch and headed to my room to get dressed. I slipped on my gray skinny jeans that are shredded around my thighs and knees, threw on a dark red tank top, my gray leather jacket, and a studded belt before heading down stairs. I went hunting for my red high top converse only to run into Minor standing in the doorway to the kitchen. I just looked at him as he raised an eyebrow at me before lifting his left hand to show me my shoes.
He handed them to me before pulling me into his chest. We still didn't say anything, just stood there in each other's arms. Eventually he broke the silence and all remaining tension, "I'm going to be over at Azael's house. Contact me if you have any problems, okay?" I didn't say anything and just glared at the floor. He groaned then sighed before lifting my head so I was looking at him. "I'm sorry from waking you from your precious slumber." He wasn't lying, it was all honesty. A smile started to break out on his face as he saw my walls come crumbling down. He saw me cracking.
I hate to apologize. Those words are like poison, but I knew I had to say them. I just couldn't get my voice up though. In a low grumble I let out those three vile words, "I am sorry."
"Pardon me, but did you say something, Angel?"
"Shut up unless you want to look like a raccoon." I playfully glared at him before breaking out into a big grin. "Alright, I seriously have to get going."
I stood on my toe to give him a kiss and he wrapped his arms around my waist supporting my stretch. Damn tall boy, I mentally cursed. He pulled back and rested his forehead on me bending so I could stand back flat on my feet. "I love you, baby."
I smiled up at him, "I love me too!" I tried to run for it but he tightened his grip on my waist before I could break it. "Fineeee," I sighed out, "I love you too, I guess."
"Oh you only guess, huh?" both his eyebrows shot up and a smirk spread across his face before he started to tickle me.
"Okay, okay. I love you, but I seriously have to go now." He quit tickling me and gave me one last kiss before walking to the door.
"I was serious about the contacting me, by the way." He shouted before closing the front door behind him. I rolled my eyes at him, slipped my shoes on, and locked up the house.
I got to Mary's school ten minutes before the last bell. I mentally patted myself on the back. I guess it was a good thing I wasn't driving a car, I'd have never made it in time.
I leaned on my bike eating a peach just waiting for the stupid middle school's bell to go off. The sun was reflecting off the nearby cars causing me to put on my sun glasses. For reasons unknown, my temper was starting to flare again making me glad I grabbed my mirrored aviators to hide my eyes.
Time drug on and I started to think the damn bell was never going to ring. Finally the shrilling sound made its way to my ears and I let out a breath for relief. I was about to burst from boredom. I lifted my head to stare at the main doors waiting for a certain blond haired blue eyed girl to make her way out of the building.
She emerged with a ton of peppy looking girls that I've never seen before. Her best friend Natalie was the only one I could actually pick out where she was the first one to spot me. A grin broke out on her face and she waved over at me.
I offered a little smile in return still tired of waiting. Mary looked over and saw me but kept her face blank. She stopped and continued to chat with her friends pissing me off even more.
So this is how it's going to be. She doesn't want her friends to know I'm her sister. I rubbed my hands together as a devious grin spread across my face. I stood up and made my way over to the group. Mary's face paled but I didn't intend on speaking to her. My aim was for the other girls after I get talking to my sisters smiling best friend. See, Nat knows what I am because she is actually part demon too. I lowered my sunglasses a little so she could see I wasn't in the best mood. She started to laugh but tried to cover it with a cough.
"Hey, girls!" I exclaimed in a completely fake, sweet voice. By now Nat's face is red and she had her hand over her mouth trying to hold in her laughter. I frowned at her, "Are you okay, sweetheart?"
She calmed down a little. I'm not a hundred percent sure but I think she might be a demon like Kobal. The main clue being she finds humor in everything. "I'm perfectly fine, Jez." I smiled at her before sending a wink in her direction.
"So, like, are you guys, like, cheerleaders or something?" I said using my best cheerleader impression. I ended it with flipping my hair.
The fake blond scrunched her nose up at me, "Yeah, we are."
"All of you are?" I asked out of true curiosity. I could tell she wasn't meaning they all were, I just wanted to know who.
"Well, all of us except for Natalie, but she dances." This girl's attitude was starting to rile me up. I looked pointedly at my little sister. I never knew she became a cheerleader, she always said she hated them.
"Why didn't you tell me?" I asked kind of hurt by all of her behavior. We've always been sort of close and the way she's been acting is way off for her.
"Probably because you are always so far up Minor's ass you aren't around anymore." She growled looking over at me. "Oh, will you look at that, speak of the devil and he shall come."
I turned around but the person walking towards us wasn't Minor. "Uhh, that's not Minor..." Natalie spoke up voicing my thoughts.
~Uh, Minor, I think we might be running into some issues at the middle school. Get Kobal and Azael to come with you.
~Okay, I'll be there as soon as possible, Angel.
