~*~Chapter 11~Why?~*~
Thirty minutes later and we are all sat around my father’s dining room table, all of us being Mary, Natalie, Kobal, Azael, Ronnie, Minor, and myself. Kobal and I were sat across from each other in an intense staring contest. Azael was the referee.
Confused? Well after they sent us how from school as they hunt down the nonexistent cow and clean up the mess of hay and animal droppings. We all re-watched the reactions of the teachers, principal, and staff. Now the rest gets a little weird.
We were all sitting in the living room discussing how well the prank had worked out when Kobal shot out of his seat and ran off. We found him lying on the dining room table with his feet and arms in the air as if he were a dog lying on its back. The song ‘Thrift Shop’ was playing from his phone that was on the table beside him.
Me being the cruel 17 year old demon I am, walked up to my dorky best friend and pushed him off the table then took a seat in front of his phone. He remained soundless as he sat down across from me. I heard Azael rub his hands together before pretty much yelling, “Let the game begin bitches!” Then it was on like Donkey-Kong.
Five minutes later we are still staring at each other as everyone sat talking, Mary and Natalie; cheering me on, Minor; or just watching the match intently, Ronnie and Azael. Minor had actually just came back from the kitchen with a glass of water. I, apparently, was the only one aware of his intentions. Kobal was so zoned out he didn’t even realize how badly Minor was going to crash him down.
~Did you add salt to the water?
Minor snorted at my question but answered none the less. ~Why only of course, Angel.
Seconds later Minor had the saltwater levitating from the glass before he splashed it in Kobal’s face. His eyes immediately pinched shut at the burning contact making Azael and I jump up from our seats. Azael; grabbed my arm and threw it into the air. “And the all-time reigning champion comes out on top once again!”
Minor handed Kobal a warm washcloth to put on his burning eyes. “You guys all suck ass. That was totally cheating.” Kobal used his whiney kid voice as he rubbed at his irritated eyes.
“Well, had you not zoned out you would’ve seen it coming. Besides, there were never any rules against what Minor did.”
He pouted crossing his arms over his chest and sitting back in his chair. Seeing a built boy standing at six feet pout is a very humorous sight to see. I, however, am quite used to seeing Kobal pout therefore ignoring his childish tactics.
When the doorbell rang no one made a move to get it as they all stared at me expectantly. “What?”
Mary answered for all of them. “It’s your house, you get the door.”
“But Minor lives here too,” I all but groan. That was a low blow.
Minor pushes himself out of his seat next to me, “You should be glad I’m in love with your lazy ass.” He looked pointedly at me as he walked backwards towards the door. Seconds later I heard some thumps coming from the hallway signaling to me who was here. Everyone else seemed to be unsure and curious as they got up and walked out of the room.
I stayed seated and place my head on the table. “I swear if you two make a mess you’ll be cleaning it up!” I shout still not caring to go greet Anser, the same Anser who is meant to be in school. But even with that thought passing through my brain I don’t get up. I remained in the same position until my seat was ripped away from the table and I was forced to sit up. Anser then proceeded to sit on my lap before picking up Kobal’s phone off the table and messing with it. Neither of us said a word for a couple of minutes, until I filled the silence. “Two things: first, why aren’t you in school? Second, why the hell are you sitting on my lap?”
He looked up from Kobal’s phone and looked off into the distance. “For the first one, well, I thought it was obvious but I skipped. As for the answer to your second question, there isn’t one.”
“Then get off me.” I pinch him on the back of the neck hard making him yelp and jump up off me.
I walked myself into the kitchen and popped open our glorious, humongous refrigerator in dire need of a Monster. When I slid it off the shelf I saw a silver object fall to the floor before making a tinking noise on the slate tiled floor. I picked the tiny cold object up before laughing like a crazy person. “Minor, I finally found your house key!”
Heavy foot falls follow my statement before he joins me in the kitchen where I’m sitting on the counter holding his key out to him. He walks over and takes it from me and adds it to his key ring then standing in front of me and placing his forehead on my own.
“Where did you find it?” He asked as he wrapped his arms around me.
“In the refrigerator by the Monster Energy Drinks, that of which I would like to take a drink of. So, if you don’t mind take a step back so I can take a swig of the delicious energy supplement.” He chuckles but complies. Once I set the drink down beside me he takes the step back towards me before taking my baby and running off with it. “Minor! Get your own damn drink!”
If I can’t get my energy from that I guess sleep will due too, even if we do have more of those delectable drinks.

I woke up all on my own around six p.m. with serious withdraws. It feels as though it’s been years since I’ve driven my precious bike. The only thing I could think was the wind whipping my hair as I drove at fast speeds on the black pavement.
With the location of ‘the arena’ in mind I got up and grabbed a shower before heading to my closet. I slid on a pair of black skinny jeans, a Falling in Reverse band tee, my leather jacket, and my combat boots. I pretty much avoided the makeup other than mascara and headed out of my room. The house was empty but dad was still at work and Minor was most likely with Azael, Kobal, and Anser at the arena.
Forty-five minutes later I pulled up beside Minors truck. He and Azael were sitting in the bed watching at the races were going on. The arena is nothing at all like an arena, in fact, it isn’t even a building. Pretty much it’s a dirt track used for racing. The cops leave us alone out here. They’d prefer for us to be doing our business out here instead of in the streets like we used to.
I hop up into the back with the two boys and Minor hands me a beer before pulling me onto his lap. The three of us sit on the toolbox watching the races in silence until it’s over. The second it’s over Azael hops down and heads over to the winner giving him his prize money. Minor and I collect the money for the next race from the five participants. Three of them don’t even realize how badly they are going to be creamed by the two boys I consider friends. The real competition is going to be between Kobal and Anser.
Once the racers are back in their respectful cars and the three of us are situated back in our previous positions the race begins. I roll my eyes as Kobal and Anser take off at a leisurely pace. They love showing off the fact that their cars have been rigged. I’m nowhere near against their bragging being that I was indeed the one that rigged their cars in the first place. I guess you can say that everything on the cars aren’t necessarily human made.
All the cars were so incredibly close to finishing when Kobal and Anser decided to kick it up. Kobal’s car however began to slow until it came to a complete stop. Anser pulled through into first place but I ignored it as I fumed. That damn asshole messed up his car again. Again I’d have to fix it, and believe me when I say working with those parts is not easy.
